Just subscribed to share my support and happiness that the forum and archive are back online! So many memories and just like other people said, I just came to check in and was surprised by having access to both of them. Also last week I started playing RTK XI for the first time in more than 15 years! Anyway I wish you well James and hope everything work out for everyone!

These look fantastic. I love how far modding of these various games has come...
I need to find a way to promote this stuff better at KMA.

Interesting. Wonder why I have missed it or why it isn't used more. Very likely the former.

In fact, I probably shouldn't comment a whole lot at all about Reddit being relatively unfamiliar.

Thanks so much. This makes my day on multiple levels; support and memories alike. People swinging by, checking in, and sharing memories like this make me quite glad that kicking these machines back into working order. Check in with us here from time to time if you feel inclined!

I’ve been sorely tempted to pick up one of the new RTKs I haven’t played.

But if I end up enjoying it, well... I know me... I won’t be very productive for a while.

Hey James! I think I have noticed a mistake on KMA. In your RTK XI portraits gallery, you have a general named Zhu Jin, but I believe his name was Zhu Jun. In your RTK IX and X galleries, he is named Zhu Jun. :pika:

Haha! By golly, I think you are right. I even double-checked a tiny bit out of curiosity to see if it was one of those cases where Koei just did their own thing with an officer name at some point. Fixed! :pika:

Darn bot ...

I found several pages that are not working.

The first being the Special Character Encoder / Unicode Decimal Entity Encoder for Special Characters (2.0)
https://kongming.net/development/tools/ ... ncoder.php

There should also be some broken links in different sections on the 3k games, but I did not keep track of them...

In order to prevent bots from disrupting the forum James could create a special group that every new subscribers are automatically added to and their posting permissions restrict them to post in a "presentation" sub-forum before being able to post elsewhere. That way every new members have to introduce themselves, the degree of details being left to their discretion, and they cannot post links until they have posted 5 times. This should be good enough to disrupt the bots effort to post their links everywhere.

Oh interesting. Is the entity encoder still useful? I was always a bit fascinated how it ended up garnering a lot of attention in communities that had no interest in the Three Kingdoms at all. The code it relies on employs some sorcery that is broken in the current version of PHP. I could fix it, but I wondered if people really still bothered with such things now that Unicode is relatively widely supported.

If you see any other things broken, please let me know. I haven't done a full review of the games section content yet. I've just sort of been fixing things there as I stumble across things which are broken.

Yeah... :/

I enabled guest posting in this form because it gives members who may be having trouble signing in an easy way to post and communicate. But maybe it would make more sense to create a guest forum for that purpose and hide it from the registered community. I did wonder if it might end up being a problem with bots, though... since you are basically saying, "Go ahead and spam here, with no fuss of the membership requirement."

I'm late! And for a month gosh darn-it-all!

First off, I'm absolutely thrilled to see the board back online! I stumbled upon the revived site by complete accident, as I formatted my PC and signed into a fresh browser session that revived my old bookmarks back. Deleted a bunch before I saw SoSZ.

Clicked.

It connected.

...it connected? HOLY.

I've been part of the Discord community around the time the forum went down but the discussion has been too fast paced for me so I rarely check in. I totally missed the announcement of the forum being back online since it wasn't pinged @everyone and I guess that the e-mail that I never received was blocked by spam filters. But here I am in the flesh! ...err, digitized form of sorts.

Oh geez I'm just so giddy that we're back!

I read this thead so far and just chiming in on the discussion about reddit. As has been said, it doesn't really fill the same needs as a traditional forum does. And I've been feeling for some time now that social media platforms have some kind of "everyone is better than you and you're always wrong, I am right!" -stigma. Stopped using FB and IG about a year ago and few weeks ago stopped going to reddit as well. Life seems better now.

Anyway, it's absolutely bonkers that the site's back! I joined the patreon with a small amount. Great to see you all!

En ymmärrä, mutta kuulen sen väkisin

Welcome back, Jake! That story of culling your old bookmarks and clicking SoSZ for good measure put a big ol’ smile on my face.

Re: “Everyone is better than you and you're always wrong, I am right!"
I’ve noticed that... with so many communities.

Please stick around! I have a feeling many people will only discover this is back online with some time. Unless I sort how to send a proper email to everyone. But even then, I wonder how many people have changed their email addresses. I’m chipping away at fixing things up a bit day-by-day and working on getting the novel back online as a community project along the way. :)

And thank you for chipping some support in! It means a lot to me. :)
