Can I just say, I find this particularly awesome because one of my favorite Sausage posts of all time was written by James when he had just gotten back from a baseball game.

If I may set the stage a little bit: this was at the beginning of the 2007 season, and the San Francisco Giants — James' home team — were on the front page of every newspaper in the country. Their star, Barry Bonds, was not only about to break Hank Aaron's all-time home run record — the most storied record in major league sports — but he had just been indicted by the federal government as part of a steroids ring. The whole country, and San Francisco *especially*, was totally consumed by this story. And James writes:
I was surprised to find out that Barry Bonds still plays baseball. How old is that guy now?
To me, that line remains the pinnacle of lofty, zen-like detachment from the world.
Mithril! The dwarves tell no tales. But just as it was the foundation of their wealth, so also it was their destruction. They delved too greedily and too deep, and disturbed that from which they fled.

Hear! Hear!

(Except the part with the admins. I vote we get the new members to do it instead as an initiation ceremony.)
I'm glad this was never passed. A new member comes on and has to do this. They'll leave for sure.

Weeds out the weak, what with their dignity and all.
I don't write fanfic, but if I did it would involve Zhou Yu and Zheng He fighting to win the heart of Lai Choi San. Then I'd make them join forces to fight Ming the Merciless, who secretly works for Master Li. I'd squeeze Lu Bu in there somehow.
