See James' post on the first page
PS: James, I found out why I couldn't replace the "Plunge" etc. icons that other evening. I forgot that the game ran in 256 colours, and I tried to make it take 24-bit bmps. And that caused the exe file to explode. If you want to make snazzier 256-colour icons (there's only so much I could do in MS Pain), I'd be happy to include those instead.

So do you intend to keep "plunge" because it's a funny inside joke, even though it's ridiculous?Lady Wu wrote:See James' post on the first page

You're just jealous because you aren't playing this 1337 game.Kong Wen wrote:So do you intend to keep "plunge" because it's a funny inside joke, even though it's ridiculous?
I've had all these inside jokes pent up for the last few days. Finally let loose two of them today. Don't worry, they'll be ironed out before the official release.

(I was having trouble hacking those icons on the bottom. They are image files embedded in the .exe, and I didn't know how to access them. I'm just super excited that I found a way to make it work!)

Congrats! I know you're enough of a perfectionist to make this game superawesome by the time you're done.

I would love to make some snazzy graphics for you. Well, about as snazzy as 256-color BMP files can get. What is the native format? Can you produce an untarnished tile for me to place text on?

No untarnished tiles. I patched over the Chinese characters as well as I could, using the same pattern on the originals. I could send you the exported image files, but you might as well just take a screenshot and work from that (or even just start from scratch). They are 48x48.James wrote:I would love to make some snazzy graphics for you. Well, about as snazzy as 256-color BMP files can get. What is the native format? Well, I've played a bit of the game and I want to give my 2 cent on a few things. Do not consider it criticism. I say that because this is coming from someone who barely finished 2nd grade in China before coming moving to America.
I don't remember the exact line, but Xiaohou Yuan was talking about taking advantage of people cause they get all the treasure at the end of a battle. Something like "I think we're taking advantage of people" in the translation. When I was reading it in Chinese, I get a different tone from it. It's more like "I feel like we're taking advantage of people."
I believe the title for Chapter 1 was: A Hegemony. I thought "Rise of a Conquerer" sounds so much better. It sounds more powerful, and also gives a more powerful image in the reader's head. Or maybe that's just me.
I think using their style for the dialog is closer to the original. It feels closer when Xiahou Dun calls out Mengde instead of Cao Cao. After all, the audience playing this game will no doubt be familiar with the style and won't have any trouble adapting to it. It is how it was in the original Chinese version anyway.
