Thank you for the warm wishes! Chinese New Year is my least favourite public holiday and festival due to all the cumbersome traditions and practices. I would usually try my best to do the minimal number of house visits required and I never like giving out red packets to kids/unmarried adults that I hardly met for the whole year, year on year. Just felt kind of fake.
This year would be worse because I need to abstain from all my favourite Chinese New Year goodies due to my ongoing weight loss regime. I hope my aunt-in-law cooks her special mutton curry when I go visit her this Sunday, probably the only thing I can look forward to. Wish me luck!

I can totally relate to the house visits and giving away red packets! For me I escaped several times by going out to the cinema or anywhere else but not home. The only timing which we can't escape is during lunch and dinners.
