Bao Xun, styled Shuye, was from Pingyang, Taishan. He was the ninth generation descendant of Han's (silixiaowei); Bao Xuan. [Bao] Xuan's descendants would move from Shangdang to Taishan, hence the familiy home. [Bao] Xun's father was [Bao] Xin. During the Keen Emperor's reign, he was Commandant of Cavalry. The Generalissimo; He Jin sent him east to recruit troops. He later served as Chancellor of Jibei, agreed with the Grand Progenitor, but was killed. This is spoken in the Biography of Dong Zhuo and the Annals of the Martial Emperor.

[Guanqiu Xing] would enter to become Court Architect. [Guanqiu] Jian inherited his father's peerage] and was a man of Literary Scholarship to the Marquis of Pingyuan. When the Bright Emperor ascended the throne, he had [Guanqiu Jian] be Gentleman of the Secretariat, then shifted to Supervisor of the Feathered Forest. As he was a former member of the Eastern Palace [being Cao Rui's companion, he was treated greatly with intimiacy and respect. He left [the capital] to serve as Organizer of Agriculture in Luoyang. At the time, select farmers had to build a palace. [Guanqiu] Jian petitioned, stating, "I humbly believe what the realm has to quickly eliminate are the two traitors, and what is the most urgent task to do are [supplying] clothes and food. The true cause for the two traitors not being destroyed is the officials and people starving and freezing. Although I admire your palace, it has no benefit." He was shifted to Inspector of Jing Province.

During the Qinglong era, the Emperor plotted to suppress Liaodong, and because of [Guanqiu] Jian's ability and strategy, he was shifted to Inspector of You Province, additionally conferred General who Crosses the Liao, granted tally, and Colonel who Protects the Wuhuan. He led the armies of You Province until Xiangping, garrisoning at Liaosui. The Wuhuan Chanyu of Youbeiping; Kouloudun and the Wuhuan Commander of Liaoxi led troops to Wanghuliu among others. [Kouloudun] previously followed Yuan Shang's escape to Liaodong. The surrendered soldiers [of his forces to Wei] numbered over 5,000. Kouloudun sent his younger brother, Aluopan among others, to the capital city palace to present tribute. The enfeoffment of over 20 of his commanders were of marquises and kings, also bestowing carriages, horses, and vibrant silk, each being unique. Gongsun Yuan revolted, clashing with [Guanqiu] Jian. It was not favorable [for Guanqiu Jian], so he returned. The next year, the Emperor sent the Grand Commandant; the (Xuan) King of the Sima to gather the central army with [Guanqiu] Jian and others, numbering several tens of thousands, to suppress [Gongsun] Yuan, and stabilized Liaodong. [Guanqiu] Jian, because of merits, advanced fief to Marquis of Anyi, the fief having 3,900 households.

During the Zhengshi era, [Guanqiu] Jian, because of Goguryeo's numerous intrusions and rebellions, supervised various armies of infantry and cavalry numbering 10,000 out of Xuantu, going through various roads to suppress them. The King of Goguryeo; Gong led 20,000 infantry and cavalry, advancing his army upstream the Feiliu River, and a great battle happened at Liangkou. Gong's army was defeated and he fled. [Guanqiu] Jian thus wrapped his horse's feet and put a hook on his chariot [this is an idiom for traversing mountainous terrain], then took Hwando. He then slaughtered what was Goguryeo's capital, beheading and taking thousands of enemy heads. The Peizhe of Goguryeo, whose forename was Delai, had often admonished Gong.[1] Gong ignored his words. Delai sighed, "I am standing and watching this land soon raise wild grass!" So he did not eat and then died. The whole nation saw him as worthy. [Guanqiu] Jian ordered his armies not to ruin his grave, not to mow his plants, and obtained his wife and child(ren), having them all released. Gong alone led his wife and child(ren) to flee in disorder. [Guanqiu] Jian led his army back to return. In the 6th year, he again went on expedition against them, and Gong then fled to Maigou. [Guanqiu] Jian sent the Grand Administrator of Xuantu; Wang Qi to pursue them,[2] crossing over a thousand li in Okjeo until the southern border of the Sushen tribes. He carved stone to record his achievements, engraving one in the mountains of Hwando* and engraving one on the city walls of Bunai. The people that were executed or received [by Wei] numbered over 8,000. In discussing merits for those to receive awards, the marquises numbered over a hundred person. [Guanqiu Jian] pierced mountains to irrigate [land], and the people relied on this boon.

He shifted to General of the Left, with acting tally to supervise various military affairs in Yu Province, led as Inspector of Yu Province, and shifted to General who Garrisons the South. When Zhuge Dan fought at Dongguan, it was not advantageous [for him], thus an order had [Zhuge] Dan and [Guanqiu] Jian to trade places. [Zhuge] Dan became [General who] Garrisons the South, commanding Yu Province, while [Guanqiu] Jian became [General who] Garrisons the East, commanding Yang Province. Wu's Grand Tutor; Zhuge Ke sieged Xincheng, Hefei. [Guanqiu] Jian and Wen Qin resisted him, and the Grand Commandant; Sima Fu supervised the Central Army to go east to resolve the siege. [Zhuge] Ke withdrew and returned.

Previously, [Guanqiu] Jian, Xiahou Xuan, and Li Feng among others were very friendly. The Inspector of Yang Province and the General of the Front; Wen QIn was Cao Shuang's fellow villager. He was valiant and resolute as well as rough and brave, often having battle achievements. He was fond of increasing his captures and so he requested to obtain imperial rewards, but was often not accepted. His resentment increased each day. [Guanqiu] Jian because he treated [Wen] Qi generously overall, they were very friendly and harmonious. [Wen] Qin also felt sincerely grateful, so he cast his heart without second [thoughts].
初,儉與夏侯玄、李豊等厚善。揚州刺史前將軍文欽,曹爽之邑人也,驍果麄猛,數有戰功,好增虜獲,以徼寵賞,多不見許,怨恨日甚。儉以計厚待欽,情好歡洽。欽亦感戴,投心無二。
In the 1st month of the 2nd year of the Zhengyuan era, there was a comet tens of zhang long, filling the Heavens northwest, arising at the division between Wu and Chu. [Guanqiu] Jian and [Wen] Qin believed it auspicious for themselves. They thereupon forged an edict from the Empress Dowager, accusing the (Jing) King of the Sima of crimes, shifted numerous commanderies and states [to their favor], and rose their troops in rebellion. They pressured and coerced the generals guarding detached garrisons south of the Huai [River] as well as officials and people, big or small, and had all enter Shouchun City. There was an altar west in the city, where they smeared blood on their mouths and called their troops to make an oath, dividing the old and weak to guard the city, while [Guanqiu] Jian and [Wen] Qin personally led 50,000 or 60,000 troops to ferry across the Huai [River], going west to Xiang. [Guanqiu] Jian defended firmly while [Wen] Qin was outside roaming with his troops.[1]

The Generalissimo controlled the inner and external armies to suppress them, separately sending Zhuge Dan to supervise the various armies of Yu Province to go to Anfeng Ford and plan against Shouchun. The General who Conquers the East; Hu Zun supervised the various armies of Qing and Xu Provinces go between Qiao and Song, cutting off their return path. The Generalissimo garrisoned at Ruyang, sending the Supervisor of Army; Wang Ji to supervise front and vanguard armies to occupy Nandun so as to deal with them. These armies all had strong defenses and did not fight. [Guanqiu] Jian and [Wen] Qin could not contest, and they retreated, fearing Shouchun would be raided, but could not return. Their plans were exhausted and they did not know what to do. Of the generals and soldiers south of the [Huai] River, their families were all in the north, and the armies' hearts were broken and dispersed. Those that surrendered were successive, and only the recently joined farmers south of the Huai [River] were of use. The Generalissimo sent the Inspector of Yan Province; Deng Ai to supervise the various armies of Taishan of over 10,000 people to go to Lejia, showing weakness to lure them. The Generalissimo soon came from Zhu. [Wen] Qin did not know [their plan] and indeed came overnight, wanting to raid [Deng] Ai and others. When it was dawn, he saw the grand army was surging, thus he led a retreat.[1] The Generalissimo commanded his elite cavalry to chase and strike them, crushing them, though [Wen] Qin escaped. That day, when [Guanqiu] Jian heard [Wen] Qin fought and lost, he was fearful and fled overnight, his army breaking down. When he closely approached Zhen County, his retinue troops gradually abandoned [Guanqiu] Jian and left. [Guanqiu] Jian was only with his younger brother, [Guanqiu] Xiu and his grandson, [Guanqiu] Zhong hid around a river within grass. The Commandant of Anfeng Ford; Zhang Shu shot and killed [Guanqiu] Jian, sending his head to the capital. [Zhang] Shu was enfeoffed as a marquis. [Guanqiu] Xiu and [Guanqiu] Zhong fled into Wu. The generals coerced by [Guanqiu] Jian and [Wen] Qin all surrendered.[2]

[Guanqiu] Jian's son, [Guanqiu] Dian, served as (zhishushiyushi). Previously, he knew [Guanqiu] Jian's plot would leak, so he privately sent out his family and subordinates to flee up Mount Lingshan, Xin'an, but detached [soldiers] attacked and captured it, exterminating [Guanqiu] Jian to the third degree.[1] [Wen] Qin fled and entered Wu. Wu had [Wen] Qin serve as (duhu), with acting talling, Generalissimo who Garrisons the North, Governor of You Province, and Marquis of Qiao.
