Discourse: First Season finished!

Posted with James kind permission

Hello everyone

Some time last year, Sun Fin (who is to blame if you hate it) and I (taking sole credit if you like it) came up with a podcast idea. To use the novel chapters to discuss themes of the novel but also act as a non-backlash introduction to the historical era as well plus the odd interview and deep dive episodes that go deeper into history on certain themes.

Sun Fin is usually the host and I take a regular guest role with a guest (Aaron.k and Taishi Ci 2.0 of this community have both recorded episodes with us, CaTigeReptile is set to record soon). ZL181, 昭烈-Zhāolìe and Zhou Dadudu (who also guests) have done a lot of work behind the scenes as well.

Our format is host (usually Sun Fin), main guest from the community and me or Dadudu as supporting guest. Then we chat about the themes from the novel and the history, a conversation between the three that usually lasts between 45 minutes to an hour (deep dives may go longer depending on subject) and we hope to provide something even the experienced members of this community can enjoy and take something from.

We hope to have the first episode (and intro) out this month

The site is up

Also via Tunein, Deezer, apple and amazon. Full list of platforms

We have youtube, twitter and tumblr

If you can convince Fin to be a bit less British, I can publicly say I am excited for this!

Not just British... Southern too!

I'm looking forward to listening to the podcast despite Sun Fin's southernness.

You guys are just jealous of my sexy voice.

I'm so excited to share this work with you all! The guests we've had on have been fantastic and I'm certain that due to them we've got content accessible to everyone no matter their level of knowledge.
Have a question about a book or academic article before you buy it? Maybe I have it!
Check out my library here for a list of Chinese history resources I have on hand and my tumblr to see if I have reviewed it!

What a wonderful idea! You might want to look into getting SeriousTrivia for an episode or two, he also really knows his stuff. Looking forward to this being released.

I’m looking forward to the release. :)

I guess I don’t need to figure out where to find out about it now.

I also plan to do documentaries episode more centered around the history and the Sanguozhi. It just need time in both writing and editing...
They would be secondary with the podcast episode who are following the SGYY.

We are replacing the novel poem with Sun Fin seeing the King George song from Hamilton

Thank you. Good point about a potential guest

We will hide the releases and leave clues in a language we invented

Sorry. The episode very much focused on the chapter of the novel (chapter 2) rather then his translation work.
