Why don’t we have this wonderful thread? Well, we do now. If you have any fun Three Kingdoms maps, campaign trails, or illustrations to share in a commonly accessible location, please use this thread to display the goods. We may make a feature of various portions of this content at Kongming’s Archives down the road.

Feel free to comment on and discuss maps, but from time to time discussion that does not present new information or content may be deleted so this thread may retain its purpose.

If you wish to post different illustrations at the same time, but they are of different subjects or from different sources, feel free to post multiple times (so we can index the contents of this thread here on the first post).

Suggested Presentation
If possible please use text or an image less than or equal to 550px wide to link to larger images. This will help to prevent the forum from stretching, making it hard for viewers with low resolutions to view the text.

Three Kingdoms map by William

Probably everyone is familiar with this old gem created by our good friend William. It is highly detailed and features a multitude of locations. Some errors have been discovered over the years but they are not excessive. A fine map!

Three Kingdoms maps from Empresses and Consorts
<a href=”http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/ ... >Empresses and Consorts: Selections from Chen Shou’s Records of the Three States with Pei Songzhi’s Commentary</a>, translated with annotations and introduction by Robert Joe Cutter and William Gordon Crowell, is a wonderfully well-written book which I highly recommend for anyone interested in the Three Kingdoms era. It focus on the women of the Three Kingdoms period and the role they played in government and includes phenomenal translations of their Sanguozhi biographies. It also has detailed background information on and biographies of both Chen Shou and Pei Songzhi. These maps were scanned from this book, enhanced in Photoshop, and I colored them in for emphasis myself. Enjoy!

This is loads of fun and actually quite handy for getting a birds-eye view of things like the mountainous terrains in Bashu and around Hanzhong, for viewing the span of the Great Plains, and for gaining some insight into Wu as well. Handy!

How much land in Southern Shu was actually used by people? Because it seems there's a lot less cities compared to Wu and Wei.

While I couldn’t give you a percentage I can confirm that it is far less than the other territories. Wu, in turn, is far less occupied than Wei (with Wu mostly being inhabited by immigrants).

And that is pretty-much accurate. The population comparison, however, speaks volumes in opposition to equality.

Oh man Wu kind of looks bigger which is crazy. At least Wei looks like it has half of korea. Wu expanded alot.

I think that in the later years of Wu, when Jin was around, Wu even managed to take over new territories in Vietnam (thanks to the military accomplishments of Tao Huang).

These are good maps. Did Wu ever take control of that island of Ya-zhou? I've read on some places that they did, but I've never confirmed it with reliable sources. I wish I could scan in the map from the times complete history of the world, since that one's ok too (not as good as these though)...
