Re: Three Kingdoms Maps and Illustrations

I think I can do it. I think I figured the process.
Looks great! Georeferencing?
TigerTally wrote: Tue Feb 07, 2023 11:47 am Are you usually QGIS or ArcGIS? Also I would love to know where you download that base satellite map :)
Looks like QGIS? And yes I would want to get my hands on the satellite map too. Is it a basemap?

Re: Three Kingdoms Maps and Illustrations

I am working on a map of China during the Three Kingdoms. I am about to start adding settlements. I'm planning to make maps that showcase provinces and commanderies as well. https://zupimages.net/up/23/06/o9az.jpg Sounds awesome! What sources are you planning to use? As for the coastlines and river...

Re: Is it Cao Cao's tomb?

The question of whether that is Cao Cao's tomb or not is no "news" anymore. The archeological report has been published, and there is plentiful evidence supporting so. There were (and still are maybe?) some thinking otherwise, and while some of their arguments were a little fluffy, there ...

Re: Three Kingdoms Maps and Illustrations

Maps on the second page are from a book called 三國地圖 published by SinoMaps Press in 2017, but most of these maps usually do not reach county or even commandery level, and in most case in static image format only therefore not of much use for GIS softwares. Ahh didn't know that! Yep sadly that is the...

Re: Three Kingdoms Maps and Illustrations

Since the GIS technology and other relevant things have developed so well in the last few years, I would want to know if anyone know of a good and detailed Three Kingdoms or historical China GIS database/dataset/website etc. PS: Language does not matter. It can be in traditional or simplified Chine...

Re: Tea culture

Perhaps not so related to Chrysanthemums and more so about tea. There is the story of Sun Hao secretly giving Wei Zhao tea to drink in place of jiu liquor because he wasn't very good at drinking. And this allowed replacement perhaps implies a certain trend of tea going beyond just medicinal purposes...

Re: Three Kingdoms Questions (You Ask, We Answer)

To add to ZL's excellent answer, the definition of 從子 is complicated and has also undergone changes across history, and that I believe may have been the reason for the varying translations. In a Song dynasty Confucian collection, 從子 is defined as a way of calling one's nephews. ("兄弟之子當稱從子"...
