Re: Has anyone tried chatGPT or character.ai? Anything creative?
I’m curious what people think about putting content and language restrictions on AI? I don’t think it should be done, even though it has obvious risks. I believe if we’re going to begin looking towards AI as a source of objectivity, we shouldn’t even play around with the idea of censorship, as that ...

Is that a "choose your own adventure" adventure?

Re: Free Books online
The Library of Chinese Humanities out of De Gruyter is free to read/open access. Includes mostly poetry and is updated every so often (so worth bookmarking).
Notably includes Cao Zhi’s poetry.

Just curious - why no Apple?Dong Zhou wrote: ↑Tue Jan 31, 2023 8:18 am The host is up with various places to listen to (we hope to add google but apple won't be happening)
Also have you considered Amazon? That’s my go-to app for podcasts these days.
Looking forward to this!

Re: Project Feedback: New Romance of the Three Kingdoms Online Novel?
This is also why the Snow/RdC update was public domain, because it was based on the 1925 edition. Its official title was “Romance of Three Kingdoms (based on a 1925 translation, with modernized names, corrections, and notes)” To be clear, by writing "was public domain" you are outlining t...

Re: 2023 - Scholars is Back Online
For what’s it worth, I haven’t been logged out of the site for 5 days now. I cleared all cookies/cache and made sure to use the https:// www address. I never got around to adding the URL to my script blocker (because I couldn’t figure out how ) so I don’t think that was the issue after all. Ma...

Re: Project Feedback: New Romance of the Three Kingdoms Online Novel?
To conclude, as long as the shared text is from the 1925/1929 edition instead of Tuttle or Heian edition, it should be fine. I believe this is correct. I collect books in the public domain (because they’re free and I’m cheap), and can confirm the 1925 and 1929 Brewitt-Taylor translations (also call...

Re: Three Kingdoms Questions (You Ask, We Answer)
Just to confuse stuff further, there’s also two other transliterations: Yale and EFEO. You’ll see EFEO mainly in late 1800s/early 1900s books that are published in France, including those translated into English. In EFEO, Cao Cao is Ts’ao Ts’so and Liu Bei is Liu Pei (both like in WG), but Sun Quan ...

Re: 2023 - Scholars is Back Online
Jia, that is the correct domain. Technically this shouldn’t really matter, but sometimes that doesn’t mean much. If someone requests a different domain it should redirect them to the proper domain, and that is where they should have the option to log in. What browser is being used in these cases? I...

Still having issues with the logging in too. When I first come to the site, it shows me logged in (with the “new message” icons for each board and all). But as soon as I click any board, it logs me out. I have https://www.the-scholars.com/ as my bookmark Edit: As a test, I closed my browser a...
