Who is the most powerful person in the world?

Unread postby Rhiannon » Sun Mar 30, 2003 6:04 pm

Of all the many positions of power in the world, which one is the most powerful? Is it the President of the United States, the head of the FBI, the Prime Minister of England, the Head of the Security Commission of the UN, etc? Which one person in the entire world's power structure has the most power to do the most harm or good in this world?

Remember, this can include people who are in charge of financial situations, like the Security and Exchanges Commissions, or people who are in a religious position, such as the Pope. Please note this thread is about the position a person holds, not who currently holds it (ie The President of the United States, not Mr. G.W. Bush).

I would say that by recent events........the President of the United States can easily be the most powerful person in the world.

As far as it seems, the ultra-rich owners of international corporations and the so-called "Falcon Team" (those that rule White House & who organise all these war stuff) are the most powerful people in the World.

The head of the CIA has to be up there, after all, the CIA often regards presidents as "visitors to power"

The American President is far from the most powerful person in the world: In his own government he has two branches that can refuse his bidding, not to mention a tropical dictator's reign lasts much longer than his, heh.

I'm not exaclt sure who...the Pope has a lot of power, but only under part of the world (for instance he lacks power in the Muslim/Islamic Middle Eastern Countries).

I think we're overlooking the obvious here...

The most powerful person in the world must be the Commissioner of Baseball.

It was Dub'ya's first choice, after all.
