I got this new thing in the mail (woo hoo!), called "Who's Who Among High School Students". Is this a good thing?

I found some info on it. Maybe it was explained to you when you got the letter though:

Maybe one of your teachers recommended you for the honor, so I guess it is a good thing ^_^ If it was just a general letter explaining the program and such, then it's probably still a good thing that you have recieved it. Perhaps you should pursue this recognition.

It says

"Congratulations. Jessica has been referred to be included in he 37th Annual Edition of Who's Who Among American High School Students 2002-2003, an honor reserved for only 5% of our nation's high school students each year."

I think my cousin got this last year as a Junior. Is it odd for a Sophomore to get it?

This was the statistics for last year's Who's Who:

Seniors - 28%
Juniors - 35%
Sophomores - 24%
Freshmen - 13%

So in turn, quite a few Sophomores do get to participate, while it is mostly Juniors. I must say...you should be honored. :)

I was in it for two years in high school (Soph/Jun I think), but in retrospect, I don't see where it has done a bit of good for me. Though it does no harm to fill it out and get your name in.

Don't buy the book though, ugh...if you want to go see your name in it, just go to the library reference section.

It's a decent enough honor to go on your university entrance resume, but I agree with Wild-Eyes: don't pay for the book. The honor is free and likely comes from one of your instructors. Congrats. :)

Im interested to see who reccommended me. It was probably a guidance counselor or something. I don't believe any of my teachers 'believe' in me as much. I wonder if I'll ever find out..
