Hahaha. Awesome. You are going to get owned by Chi Tu Ma.

I have seen tons of battle screenshots from the Wei mod version. It is <i>really</i> messed up. Some of the battles in it are really out there. In one, you battle Himiko with a collection of various animals. In another (a special non-required battle) you face five <i>Chinese gods</i>.

… does Chi Tu Ma have a portrait?

Nope, no portrait for Red Hare. Though various other officers do get unique portraits who didn't before.

Fa Zheng gets one. Xu Shu and Xun You share the same portrait, that of DoaE1 Xu Shu. Gan Ning looks like Ma Dai. Yang Hu gets Zhou Yu's DoaE1 portrait (and pretty good stats too). But then there's lots of entirely new portraits, like Pang De, Cheng Yu, Guo Huai, Cao Zhen, Guo Jia and Jia Xu.

And then some of the special random generals are Mongols, or other famous Chinese people not from the RTK period.

Here's a guide for the Wei version, for you non-Japanese readers:

And for the Wu version:

I'm using those guides, but if possible, there's a favour I have to ask for improving them. I notice you make reference at several points to searching to find items, yet you're not always clear where on the ground they are. The Qing Long sabre from the fortress in Shu with the dam, for example. I went looking for it on my own because I wanted the upgrade for Zhang Liao, but it took me a while to find it on the riverbed without any more specific instructions.

Checking the other DoaE2 guides, there was no specific catalogue of hidden items in any of them, and their specific locations. Think you can list those out?

As I’ve been making my guide I’ve been documenting exact locations. I’ll post that next time I see this thread. I take it they just modified the item found on a specific spot? I’m shutting down my computer for bed right now, though. :)

I didn't write those guides myself, so I don't know the locations. I assume they're the same as the normal game's locations, but I haven't played the mods much yet so I can't say for sure. If I can contact the writer, I'll let you know.

Here are my notes so far in my own Walkthrough.

Code: Select all
 -----------------------------------------------------
 - ???:  SECRET ITEMS, OBTAINED USING SEARCH COMMAND -
 -----------------------------------------------------

Jingzhou Castle   Iron Sword      Northeast from castle, by water.
Chaisang Castle   Deadwood        Under bush behind the gunpowder man.
Jingzhou Castle   Tally           Under the throne, in the palace.
The Tally can only be found after Cao Cao's defeat at Red Cliffs.
Nanjun Castle     Steel Armor     Southwestern corner of city.
Han Castle        Thunder Sword   Behind palace, north from its entrance.
Guiyang Village   Tactic Elixir   Central southwestern bank of river.
Guiyang Castle    Iron Helmet     Northwestern corner of city.
Wuling Cape       Tactic Elixir   At end of path northeast from
Gong Zhi's initial position, by the water and trees.
Wuling Cape       Steel Shield    Southeast corner from Gong Zhi.
Outside Wuling    Steel Spear     Outside Wuling Castle, between three
bushes to the northwest at the corner of the moat.
Xinye (Rebuilt)   Steel Armor     From the southeastern corner of the
city, search between the third and fourth trees by the south wall.
Hat tip: Samuel, thank you for the location!
Fushui Castle     Flame Armor     Northwest from the palace and behind
in the center of three trees.
Xiameng Citadel   Revive          East of northeast watchtower.
Yangping Citadel  Tactic Elixir   East of entrance in a gap along row
of trees along the wall, just under another tree.
Nanzheng Citadel  Tent            Central eastern wall in a gap
   above and between some trees.

And here’s some more from another guide [I forget which]:
Code: Select all
Hanzhong Castle       Tiger Axe       Northeastern corner
Ba Castle             Tent            Northeastern Corner
Ba Citadel            Ice Spear       Southwest side behind trees
North Mountain        Silver Nugget   Middle east side by cliff and bush

Jianning Castle       Flame Armor     Northwest side, between 3 trees
Yinping Castle        War Scroll      Behind the palace on left side
Yinping Castle        Steel Helmet    One tile above the southwest
corner
Mianzu Citadel        Dragon Armor    Near barricaded gate, right and up

Longyou Castle        Water Scroll    Right of north gate, by bushes
Longyou Castle        Doomsday Scroll Northwest from Inn, in trees
Longyou Castle        Fire Scroll     Northwest corner, down one tile
Nan'an Castle         Void Spear      Northeastern area below palace
Anding Castle         Emperor Sword   Northwestern corner
Anding Castle         Silver Nugget   Southwestern house among trees
Tianshui Castle       Great Armor     Near first tree (NE) of last
island
Tianshui Castle       Barrage Sword   Near last tree of (SW) of last
island
Beidi Citadel         Gold Elixir     Southeastern corner
Xialuo Village        Speed Shoes     Bottom farm row left of entrance
Xialuo Village        Silver Nugget   Northwestern corner
Luo Castle            Gold Nugget     Left of entrance
Luo Castle            Halfmoon  Bow   Behind billeting
Qishan Citadel        Barrage Sword   Southeastern corner, above trees
Sili Citadel          Gold Nugget     Below the Item Shop, next to wall
Wuzhangyuan Citadel   Thunder Axe     From north gate, 6 down and 1 left

Chang'an Castle       Power Nugget    By bush next to Snake Spear Man
Chang'an Castle       Thin Axe        From gate, up 15, left 17, up 9
Chang'an Castle       Fortune Shield  From Armory, right 7, up 1

Both apply to Destiny of an Emperor II, and if the Wei or Wu mods simply modifies the items, they should at least give you proper locations.

Thanks for your comments regarding the guides, Xiahou Mao. I am the author of both guides and it is difficult to reveal the specific locations of hidden treasures in words.

I put up screen shots for their locations as I am going through the mods again. You can view my DOAE2 screen shot albums at http://good-times.webshots.com/album/554597984bdFTTI. The mods have the same items in the same locations as the regular DOAE2.

What do you guys think? I love the style, myself. :)
I’m quite pleased with my progress so far!

hehehe I want to share some info in http://kongming.net/doae2/walkthrough/chapter2.php ,

Luo Yang Castle

Headquarters
Inn (10 Gold Each)
Training Room (1500 Gold)
Blacksmith (Copper Swd/Sbr, Wood Spear, Leather Arm/Helm, Scale Shld)
Merchant (Herbal, Smoke, Revive)

At the weapon shop, purchase Guan Yu a Copper Sabre.
If you stored a Zheng Letter for experimentation in this area, be sure to pick it up now. Remember, don’t save after hiring any officers with the Zheng Letter or your game will corrupt.
When you are ready, proceed to the fourth gate.
----------------------------------------------------------
first, a copper sabre is free to find in the south east lake. go to the most right at the lake, then go left 1x. search and you will find a copper sabre. I have the saved state, do you need the screen shot?

second, buy another copper sabre, and you may give it to Gan&Mi. their items will be Guan Ping's item, so Guan Ping will have a copper sabre instead of a stone sabre when he and Liu Bei and Chen Deng will have to face suprised attack from Guo Tu and Tian Feng.

Does that mean that Red Hare gets transferred to Guan Ping too, if you leave it on them?
