A new Romance of the Three Kingdoms game is in development for the series’ 30th anniversary next year, Koei Tecmo announced at the Tokyo Game Show.

This is great news. I haven't gotten around to playing Nobunaga 14 yet, but Romance of the Three Kingdoms often follows the style/influences of the Nobunaga that precedes it. They're both 30th anniversary versions this time. How is Nobunaga 14? In other news, the power up kit for that game has a release date announced for December 11th, this year.

Koei announced this new ROTK game to be "revolutionary" and "the best of the series".

Obviously, time will tell.

Early rumours from a Chinese source, so chew on them at your own risk:

- Lots of cities this time: around 108 or more.
- In-battle duels to adopt a Dynasty Warriors-like 3D environment.

Again, just early rumours. More news to come in November.

IIRC Nobunaga's Ambition Tenshouki had over a hundred castles, so it's certainly possible to do that. Whether it'd a good idea, however, is another story.

Still, I'm looking forward to the release (and, hopefully, enough sense to translate it!)

The best feature ROTK XII had was the general's portraits. I hope the new one return to the best ones glory, like XI, VIII and VI.
