That may be a bit too harsh at this point. But I like that whole losing their franchise QB part, especially if he came to Miami. This time they would have an opportunity to right the wrong they made when they chose Culpepper over Brees.

I could most of that happening but, not all of it. In regards to Williams, I can see him getting some fines but a 3 year suspension? I don't think he'll get that kind of penalty unless they found that he was warned for it in the past.

The reason i see a 3 year penalty (possibly kicked out of the nfl) is that he has done it for years. Goodell is kind of bound to throw down some severe punishments. He has been such an advocate of player safety that something that directly jeopardizes player safety for such a long time will need to be squashed in the most severe way possible. You say 3 year suspension is too tough, i say thats too soft. Kicking the guy out of the nfl is the best option. This guy is responsible for Peyton Mannings neck injury, Brett Favres ankle, Petersons ankle, and who knows how many more injuries. That not only is irresponible, but injuring the leagues best players doesnt exactly make the fans happy. Imagine being a colts fan this year, then finding out someone was responsible for them having the worst season they have had in a long time and then seeing next to nothing done about it. Fans and players hit by what they view as unfair fines would riot. Imagine James Harrison if Williams got let off easy.

Touché!

Looking at it from that perspective, I suppose I'll have to agree with you. Peyton Manning, Brett Favre, and A.P.... Basically killed the two longest consecutive games streaks and possibly ruined the best run-first RB in the league. Looking at it that way, a ban would probably fit the crime for Williams. Not to mention the other players who lost pay and after-career health due to injury due to his tactics.

It would also put in place what will happen if others tried to follow that route in the future.

EDIT: Just saw a report that Vilma was offering $10,000 to whoever could knock Favre out of the game. That's ridiculous. I mean, a lot of people wanted Favre out, but that game is really what ended his career.

Yeah i saw that report on vilma, i would not be surprised if he loses half the season due to this. If Ben roethlisberger lost 4 games for conduct violations then vilma will assuredly lose more than that. You have to really look at things in perspective. Big Ben, James Harrison, the patriots spygate, all these things ended with X punishments. Well this seems to be a bigger deal than all those other incidents. The punishment has to be greater than the other crimes got. Then add in the fact that goodell has been an advocate of player safety he really has to step up. If he doesnt lay down some harsh fines and punishments the league will really have a scandal on its hands and he will get canned by the end of the season.

The Colts signed Mathis and pretty much confirmed that it will be hard to keep Wayne or Manning. Manning will almost certainly hit the market in a few days. Unless he's been hiding his want to stay and takes a cut in pay.

I notice quite a few teams are tagging their kickers and punters.

I'm sure manning wants to stay, but who knows how bad. Risk being the starting qb and losing 28 million dollars? But who knows what the colts are really doing. They have manning who is starting to look quite healthy. There is a vid floating around of him doing a pretty rigorous throwing session last week and he looked fine. If hes really that good the colts could opt to keep him around and sell off the first round pick for a kings ransom. You have seen what RG3 is likely to grab, 2 first rounders and a 2nd rounder at least. Imagine what the guy thats supposed to be better is gonna go for. Honestly i could see the seahawks getting him and he flops like aaron curry who was supposed to be the surest bet in the draft just like Luck is supposed to be this year.

I saw that about Manning showing he can throw hard and consistent. Looked good.

The Colts keeping Manning and selling their pick, makes it easier for the Browns to attempt to get Luck. The Skins will definitely be the top bid for RGIII. I see that potentially bringing down the price on the Rams 2nd pick. The Phins might have a shot then.

But then again, the Colts-Manning, Browns-Luck/RGIII, Skins-RGIII/Luck, & Phins-Flynn would be more likely if that were to happen.

If the colts try to auction their pick you can be sure that a lot of teams will be interested. 49ers will immediately make a run at it, same with the seahawks and cardinals, maybe the rams. Chiefs, raiders and possibly broncos. In fact i only see a few teams with franchise qbs not taking a shot at him. Hell i could envision the pats trying to get him just to have a back up to brady in a few years.

I guess Drew Brees is furious over his franchise tag. I know he wants a new long term deal, but 17-18 million bucks this year is a massive amount of money. I'm all for job security but if you have 18 million bucks you can just straight up retire and be done with it and live very nicely. And thats not including all the money he already has. Sign the deal brees and be done with it. Even if you do get injured and cut, 17 million is more than enough to see you through those oh so troubled times.

Well, he wanted the same deal Manning has/had. He wants 23 million each year for the first 3 years. Honestly, numbers-wise he deserves it. He's won as many Super Bowls* and has put up better numbers over the past few years. I think it may have to do a lot with the respect he feels he isn't getting when it comes to what he can command. Everyone keeps saying, Manning-Brady.

*Wouldn't be shocked if it gets stripped and then Manning has two wins.

Honestly, i dont put Brees on par with manning and brady. Brady and Manning have been doing it year in and year out. Every season they are consistent. Brees is on par with aaron rodgers. They both have quite a few great years under their belts and a super bowl win to boot, but you cant say they have stood the test of time like manning and brady. Then Eli manning comes in to round out the top 5.

Even more honestly, brees does stat pad quite a bit. That game against the colts was really unsportsmanlike. They could have put in a back up but they let brees just drop bombs the whole game. Not surprising the same scum bag team allowed a bounty system.
