Got a bunch more junk bagged up and ready to go...still plenty left though...I can't believe how much crap my great grandparents kept over the years...it's pretty enraging.

Working on getting rid of the other junk car in my driveway as well as getting the house title changed fully into my name so I can sell the thing and move my arse to Louisiana and escape this nightmare.

On the plus side my lungs now hurt from the dust...wait...

My grandmother is now in the hospital and will likely being going into a hospice.

On the plus side I've gotten a junk removal company to come out to take a ton of the junk, will also have to be calling a hoarding/filthy remediation place due to the excessive amounts of rat feces in the garage.

So, all-in-all things aren't going too awful right now.

Just got a call from the hospice workers and they told me my grandmother will likely not make it through the week, she has hours to days left, on the plus side her pain seems to be under control.

On the clean up side I got rid of a solid amount of junk but still have tons more I'm going to need to get out, will probably talk to the guy on Monday about doing the house after all.

:( My thoughts are with you and your family. It's good to hear that her pain is under control, though.

Cleaning out decades of junk is also no fun at all, rat feces or no. Good luck!

Oh that's so sad!! Sorry Adam!! I hope they are making her last days as comfortable as possible!! Just concentrate on the good things you all had together!!

Thanks guys (er girls), she passed away about a half hour ago, wasn't a big shock, she's had liver cancer and Hep C for over 5 years and the past few months haven't been too great for her.

Cleaning out decades of junk is also no fun at all, rat feces or no. Good luck!

Yea, I keep thinking I can do it myself then I get to about the 8th trash bag and feel like passing out.

Terrible is an apt word to describe it.

Forgot to charge my devices over the weekend (my PSP, iPad or MP3 player) so I had nothing to occupy me during my long boring commute to work. I thought it would be fine when I got to work because I can just charge my MP3 player, so it wasn't too bad. Then this happened which left me absolutely heartbroken. I decided to walk it off during my lunch break and just listen to music while I'm at it. Before I even got out of the elevator, the fully charged MP3 player dies. I thought I could save it by putting it back on the charger and nothing. No response. While it might be small, my daily work ritual of going to the store on my break and getting me a drink in a can for $1 is now gone because they raised the price to $1.25. I know its just an extra quarter but thats just turning me off to the whole thing now...

Decided that I might as well replace my MP3 player with something a little more snazzy so I chose to get an iPod Nano, 16GB version. I went to Best Buy and the guy who was in charge of the area kept talking and talking and talking about the sound quality of the Beats by Dr. Dre headphones to a person who just wanted to pay for a product that wasn't $300 but the guy wouldn't stop. When their transaction was finally over, 10 minutes later, I asked if they had any 16GB versions and no, they didn't... because Apple decided that its better to put the size on the back of the packaging so no one can just see it. Went to the Futureshop right beside the Best Buy and asked to get a 16GB version. He checks all of them, from silver, blue, graphite, green and nothing. He checks the pink colour. Tons, of course. So I pass.

Went to the place where I didn't want to go, the Apple store. Its packed and it smells of sweat. Got a guy to help me out immediately. I said, "silver 16 GB please!" and he says, "right away". He comes back and I'm about to pay and I look at the package... "Ummm... that's pink". He replies, "silver right? Oh, sorry. I must be colour blind" and he proceeds to FINALLY get the silver one and I finally get to walk out.

Now does an iPod in the end make up for all the terribleness of the day? Absolutely not. Not even close. The pink fiasco accentuates that fact. It's just nothing seems to go right today.

I woke up today in hopes of some real snow last night so I would have an excuse to use some PTO for a 4 day weekend. Only to have those hopes dashed when I opened my blinds at about 7:30am. I live in the boondocks, so I can get away with missing days from work when there is 'inclement weather' as it is considered here in TN. One of things I love about living here instead of NY.

I'm hoping I get that call either today or next Tuesday regarding the position I applied for within my firm. I applied for a position that will be lateral in movement for the remainder of this year and move to a supervisor level position next year. It will get me out of this call center area of HR and into some special projects and tax partnership experiences that I got a little from last year.

Talk about a bad friday the thirteenth.

Sorry for your loss Adam. I experienced that with my Grandfather, but I can't say I was too close to him.

My mother was in a bad way. Her uncle is very ill, and he went into hospital care just before Christmas Eve. I think it may be it. His brothers have both passed on, and he's so lonely and tired all the time now, even though all my cousins and his children are doing there best to help him.

Then my mother's cousin and his wife were hit by a car on Christmas Eve. Drunk driver. He pulled through okay, but his cancer came back after a week and his wife in still in coma. I am not to close to them, but he is the sweetest man I know.

What makes me sad, is more of how my mother takes it. When she cries, I always cry. I hope this situation passes, but this period of anxiety and not knowing what's next is the worst for her and I.

UPDATE: I was just offered the position I mentioned above, and took it. I got a raise in pay, unknowingly and will find out more next week. I'm pretty happy now.
