Announcing: Three Kingdoms: Legend of Sun Ce

Discussion of other Three Kingdoms games (e.g. Destiny of an Emperor and Dynasty Tactics) and other games by Koei (e.g. Samurai Warriors).

Right now, I'm still figuring it out myself. I'm hoping to have a guide cranked out soon, but I need to brush up on my Chinese, or else I'll look stupid.

Shi Xie! Truly one of the most incredible men of the era. What's his role going to be? Historical aid? Or non-historical party member?
As you know security
is mortal's greatest enemy.

SimRTK is back up in a testing phase! Go ahead and give it a look over on the Simzhou forum branch.

You're basing this on LoCC, right?

This is based on my own architecture and programming. So I merely put things in the order of portraits to keep things easier. ;)

Let's just say you have to convince him to surrender. ;)

I'm not exactly sure what stats to give people. Some people's stats from LoCC will remain intact, such as Xu Huang and Yu Jin. Others, like Cao Ren, Liu Bei, Sun Ce, and Cheng Pu, will get sizable boosts. Others, like Guan Yu and Ma Teng, will get toned down a bit. That being said, I need someone familiar with the mechanics of the game to look at my stats and suggest adjustments.

Anyway, here are some key differences between my game and past Lo___ games:

You can now spend points earned in battle to give your officers experience points as you choose.
Many more units on the screen at a time.
Your party can have far more people now.
New and adjusted tactics, classes, and items.
An intuitive scripting system allows you to make your own campaigns without the use of an external editor.

Things are shaping up well. I'm considering giving the project its own website.

I've written the full story out for both the Red and Blue storylines. I can tell you this much: one storyline is full of heartache and pain, while the other is full of hope and triumph. I actually cried writing the Red storyline.

If you want free webspace, just let me know. I'll host ’er on KMA. You can use a subdomain, or you can link up your own domain. Always happy to help out with projects like this. :)

I greatly appreciate that! I have no web design skills to speak of besides knowing how to use HTML tags, so it might be best if any site that gets created ends up being an extension of the main site. That way, it'd not only give the game recognition from browsers of the site, but anybody who I refer the game to automatically ends up visiting the site as well!

Also, I've decided to add a third ending - a "historical" ending, since neither the Blue nor Red storylines are very historical at all. In fact, it'll be difficult to get either of those two roller coaster endings compared to the new "Yellow" ending, which includes such battles as Xiakou, Chibi, Hefei, and Yiling.

Wu's final playable roster looks like this, in rough order of appearance:

Sun Jian - Unit type: Hero.
Cheng Pu - Unit type: Horse.
Huang Gai - Unit type: Mounted bow.
Han Dang - Unit type: Spear.
Sun He - Unit type: Sword.
Sun Ce - Unit type: Hero.
Sun Ben - Unit type: Horse.
Sun Yu - Unit type: Bow.
Lu Fan - Unit type: Light mage.
Lu Meng - Unit type: Mounted schemer.
Zhang Zhao - Unit type: Schemer.
Zhang Hong - Unit type: Light mage.
Zhou Yu - Unit type: Admiral.
Lu Su - Unit type: Schemer.
Jiang Qin - Unit type: Bow.
Chen Wu - Unit type: Sword.
Zhou Tai - Unit type: Pirate.
Ling Cao - Unit type: Fighter.
Ling Tong - Unit type: Spear.
Sun Quan - Unit type: Hero.
Zhu Ran - Unit type: Bow.
Taishi Ci - Unit type: Mounted bow.
Dong Xi - Unit type: Martial artist.
Yu Fan - Unit type: Dark mage.
Sun Yi - Unit type: Fighter.
Sun Shangxiang - Unit type: Bow.
Sun Jiao - Unit type: Horse.
Xu Sheng - Unit type: Mounted bow.
Da Qiao - Unit type: Dancer.
Xiao Qiao - Unit type: Dancer.
He Qi - Unit type: Horse.
Pan Zhang - Unit type: Horse.
Zhu Huan - Unit type: Bow.
Zhuge Jin - Unit type: Light mage.
Sun Shao - Unit type: Bard.
Ding Feng - Unit type: Bow.
Bu Zhi - Unit type: Dark mage.
Gan Ning - Unit type: Pirate.
Lu Xun - Unit type: Admiral.
Sun Mei - the daughter of Sun Ce who marries Lu Xun. Unit type: Spear.
Pang Tong - only joins Wu in certain storylines. Unit type: Schemer.

A lot of characters, yes? That's because there's more units in every battle. Don't worry about the ones you don't use, though: you can always level them up for later use using the Training feature with points you earn on the battlefield. Plus, some characters will die in certain storylines or may end up leaving the party for some other reason.

The Bard class is a class unique to Legend of Sun Ce. Armed with cymbals, the Bard can not only attack units directly, it also has low-cost spells that can boost allied units' MP, attack, defense, critical hit chance, and luck; dispel status effects on allied units; and halt enemy units. The Bard class is a low defense, high offense class, and it lacks attacks other than in the four cardinal directions. Despite this, it is a great class to bring along to stand either behind the front lines to lend aid to the front line units or in the midst of combat, preventing enemy units from advancing in conjunction with other units. The Bard that you get, Sun Shao, is a capable general in his own right as well, making him a better attacker than the enemy Bards you'll encounter, who in most cases, lack Sun Shao's STR and LDR stats.

Cheng Pu, Huang Gai, Sun Ce, Sun Shangxiang, Taishi Ci, and Lu Meng all have their own sprites now, as well.

I was actually curious about the Bard unit when you posted that list a couple of posts ago. To me the word sounds exclusively Celtic (or British, at best). But judging by your explanation, they are just like those cymbal guys in Legend of Heroes, right?
