This is Huo Hu from Destiny of an Emperor.
He likes to play with powder!

The Chinese characters for his name appear under his portrait (below the Japanese characters). Can anyone post these actual characters in text format? And what are they properly represented as in Pinyin? Is it truly Huo Hu? Destiny of an Emperor has more than a few… errors…

(It is accepted that he is a fictional character.)

His name literally means "Fire Tiger." I don't remember if 火 is a normal surname or not.

火 is not a surname. (The Japanese pronunciation of Huo Hu, btw, is Ka Ku.)

Funny they decided to put the kanji for the names in there, but use straight hirigana for everything else. I mean, most of the things in that screenshot can also be written in kanji, which would make the game SO MUCH EASIER for me to play. I know what most of the words on that screen say by sounding out the "Japanese letters", but it takes forever!

Sun Gongli: do you have that part of the dialogue in a Word file or something? It's hard for me to edit online, but if you could email it to me (or file transfer---seems that you've added me to MSN?) I can edit it easier.

I've already got it all edited and stuff, actually, but you're welcome to take a gander at it. Next time I'm on, I'll send it your way over MSN. (Yes that was me. :P )

Sorry ma'am, Japanese is pronounced as "Kako". :)
Btw, the character looks ugly. His name is not based on the conventional family name system, it seems more like a nickname to me.

Fire Tiger, huh? :D

I figured 火 wasn’t a standard surname. Before I actually snatched it from the game I was searching under the various versions of ‘Huo’ that I have seen as a surname, and nothing. Then I see this character I don’t recall seeing in a name before. More to the point, though, 火虎 is Japanese? What are the characters shown above? The characters shown above, in Destiny of an Emperor, are normally the Japanese characters for the officer’s name. The larger characters are pretty much the only courtesy Chinese characters in the whole game (this is the original Japanese version).

James, are you asking if 火虎 are Japanese words, or are you asking if the officer is Japanese?

火虎 are Chinese characters, I'm sure you know that (I guess you do! ) I dont know about the officer though-I dont know anything about him, but judging by what others have said, he's either a fictional Japanese general who got sent to China during the RTK era, or he's a made up Chinese general from the RTK era.

Yeah, and I've never heard of anyone with a surname 火 before, let alone someone with the given name of 虎!
