What Is Love?

What is love? You ask me like I?m a genius when it s comes to it. ?Love is a many splendored thing? It that was true why I am I constantly thrown away or put on the side like I did something wrong.
You want me to explain Love; well in that case I will do my best. L, is for the laughter spent looking at old pictures like ?remember when you had that Ice Cream speck on your nose and I tried to get it off??, I tried to forget it , you were making a scene that day? , ?But you have to admit it was funny!? .
L, is also for the long hours spent on the phone trying to decide who will hang up first ?You hang up, no you hang up I hung up last time!?
O, is for the obvious reasons that make your heart go aflutter at the sound of that special someone?s name or voice. O, is for oblivious reasons that one half of the persons in the relationship forgets the anniversary.
V, is for the volumes of money spent on the special person ?Hey look honey I got you this expensive gift form a French store across town!? ?The receipt says Jayce Pannay, and the other one says Targát, are those your idea?s of a french store?? ?It?s the thought that counts hun!?
E, is for the enthusiastic response you get from the one you love when you pop the question ?So whaddya say will you go through with it?? ?I don?t know I mean how do I know I?m not going to end up out on the street, like the last one?? ?Look they meant nothing to me you mean the world to me, plus the meters running so I kind of expected an answer from you a long time ago!?
?Well it that case since the meter is running, yes, I will marry you!? E, is for eloping or in other words running away form your parents wrath, I mean the last thing you want is your parents approval, I mean there so old fashioned and you so grown. Take it or leave it that?s how I conceive it!

One I wrote ages ago (like 5?)...

-----
Closing

The last song at the café is a gentle one
Unseen fiddles with an unheard voice
Lamenting a love that never was.
Soft rhythm sweeps through the invisible guests
The clock ticks
And half-empty cups resonate noiselessly

dong dong dong dong

The last customer rushes in from the rain howling
Feet of air beat against the concrete walls
In the centre of the café he whirls and twirls
Nobody.
Old newspapers cackle
Curtains clap
The floor squeaks from the weightless visitor
Who whistles, and saunters out
As if he was never there.

dong dong dong dong

The last light from the candles is a dreary one
Long hours burnt away in emptiness
Tears drip
In syncopation with the silent rhythm –
dong dong dong
The silent rhythm of the music
cut short.

Darkness.

Succession of the Seasons

Spring has come, bringing all new life,
acceptance and anticipation can be found.
Delightful woman, intelligent and kind,
a new friend finds a place in your future.
Joy and affection, they fill your soul,
you open your eyes to see again…

Summer returns, unset futures await all,
the perfect chance for something new.
Beloved companion, like unblemished jade,
with apprehension you share your heart.
Unrequited love, painful memories return,
friendship offers to break your sorrow.

Fall arrives, enchanting with beauty,
all gleams brightly just before the end.
Precious love, a bond forged through time,
insincere contentment conceals heartache within.
Hope and trepidation, painful weights to bear,
optimism allows you a final dream…

Winter is strong, frost covers the land,
a frightening promise of foreseeable reality.
Compassionate friend, caring and understanding,
grief overcomes you as she finds a bright new road.
In sorrow you seek tears, but inside all is dead,
another year ends leaving only “goodbye”.

1st Entry of Sun X-Searching for that Light

Unread postby Sun X » Sat Aug 16, 2003 2:06 am

Underneath the waves of a lost heart I suffer
Searching forevermore for the light I once had
Hoping that someone will hear my call
As I reach out for the sun.

Endless tears, eternal fears
Left all alone in the night, I wander about
Searching for the one that's calling out my name.
I thought I had gotten an answer.
I thought I had found what I had been dreaming of
But I was wrong-I only found deception.

No one left, but the sails are still strong
Holding onto my dreams, I'll try not to look back
Will I ever find my soulmate?
Rose petals illuminate across the sky
I watch them skim across the topaz blue void from my lookout post
This captain is pretty determined
To find the most beautiful treasure of all-
Eternal love.

Zhang Liao17 wrote:Here's the first poem I ever wrote. I wrote it off the top of my head a couple months ago for fun and I doubt its structured correctly, but its a decent first try at poetry.

Look down through the past,
To find a warrior, who against Lu Bu could last,
You wouldn't find one who would dare,
To fight the rider of Red Hare,
Lu Bu would slay them all,
Never could one stand as tall.

 I don't know about everyone else here, but I think it was great! I wrote one about Lu Bu's execution, but I'm embarrassed to post.
Lu Bu pondered long in silence, then he said, "I might slay Ding Yuan and bring over his soldiers to Dong Zhuo's side. What think you of that?"

Mine is nowhere near as good as most peoples here, but i was bored today, and decided what i felt from the weekend....

Release me from this life,
I have always been treated with respite,
Release me from my days of pain,
I feel i have naught left to gain,
Release me from my life of lonliness,
I'm all alone, it's all the same,
Release me from the bitterness,
I do not desire love, nor tenderness
Release me from this life, I do not wish for it to go on....

Not sure if i should bother to add more, or if its fine now....

My first poem of three kingdoms

Destiny of Three Kingdoms

By: Taras Stets -XuShu

One four-hundred-year kingdom falls,
Three of new ambitions thrive,
Through all the tumult and upheavals,
None are able to survive.
Wei, through its greedy deceit,
Quenched the twenty score years of Han,
Only to find itself prostrating at others feet,
By the same treacherous con!
Shu, by its loyalty to the dynasty,
Tried to extend the afflicted Liu line,
But the fateful word of Destiny,
Made them pay dearly to Mandate’s fine.
Wu, through its own ambitions,
Tried to extend its meager territory,
But through selfish family competitions,
Corruption burned down the family tree.
If all fell, who rose,
Through this entire dire din?
The Sima clan, Destiny chose,
To raise the dynasty of Jin.
What is the moral of these kingdoms three?
Do not defy Destiny!

(I should have had a look on this thread, it's very interesting...) :D :D Good poems here ! :D

Particularly XuShu's one... technically interessing (rhymes !) and promising.
Even if I have the impression that XuShu isn't here anymore... :( why don't you post other poems ? That one I read seems quite good for the first one ! :D :D
