EDIT: Most recent revision.

Dark and cold drafts swirl
the air, toss about
the tiny flakes of snow that
fall to the ground at the mercy of the wind,
the deep sky above me filled
with lights like
a black sheet of paper pricked
with pins and then backlit,
I think again of you,
time lapsed memories distant,
so many moments
forgotten or remembered,
I grow unsteady, out of phase,
dizziness descends like
the sudden realization of drunkenness
in the midst of a binge,
I can feel myself moving
up into the depths,
the gooseflesh-raising air streaks past,
there is more to know
than this one soul I've wrestled
with for so long
in my head, looking down
the city is squares and circles
of light-studded shapes cut from darkness,
as the former pinprick starlight grows
larger and looming, out into the open
sky, the burning fusion ovens now
larger yet further apart my
lungs start to burn and ache like
several hundred cigarettes too many,
my eyes bulge froglike from my face,
ever upward shooting but
what target do I streak towards, land
now just continental outlines,
as my velocity quintuples I wonder,
as comets, clusters and planets shine with
reflected solar light, each point
seems to blur and drag
in the brilliant and dust-teeming
arm of this spiraling place
we call home,
I come to an absolute stop
for one moment, a far-off
light glows pinkish-red then
blue and green, seamlessly
morphing like the light from
an LED candle,
I rest in time's palm transfixed by
a single point,
then every bone muscle fiber twists,
tears and I would scream were there air
to carry the sound,
physical space compacted like
every ounce of mass is forcing its way
into a container two times too small,
as I hurtle unfrozen,
Time's palm fractures
razor sharp into me then
like slabs of highway collapsing
on one another in an earthquake I
slam into a sheet of something colorless,
chill and forlorn like
a forgotten grave then
something shatters, I
cannot tell what, am I
broken or the wall,
an ocean of space pushing
me down, filling me like
a vessel that was made just for this
I cannot resist,
splintering realities spin
past, suns faces and worlds,
a dog barks under magenta rays,
a woman with
three faces whistles a tune with notes no
human ear can understand, too much,
falling under, collapse...

Embrace of Wisdom

I gaze outside at the riverbed,
Whether today or tomorrow as the sky darkens my eyes grow red,
The soft gentle breeze of the southeastern winds blow by,
As tomorrow becomes yesterday I search for clarity in which the mystery lies,
It is there where I found her beyond the river deep,
Wisdom as she reigned sovereign and I as her sheep,
To obtain her only the wise one knows,
Outside the broken glass of the days past of today’s windows,
Now the door is open for me to escape,
But I decline with a sigh hiding silently behind harrowing drapes,
She calls out to me ‘I am here’ for she sees in the hearts of all mortals,
It is beyond the visibility of mankind’s informational portals,
For one to embrace her is like the combination of fragrant bliss,
Sharing love intimately together by virtue of a kiss,
It is there where she called and I leaped joyously to let all know of her announce,
Given the days passed by and imminent demise,
Led against the will of my strength without much to surprise,
I am there and she is here,
What ecstasy breaks when tomorrow becomes today,
As long as she will have me in her arms I will stay

XDD loltornado.

But yeah, trains can be loud too. I guess it could be about trains, now that I think about it, but it wasn't when I wrote it. XD

A poem written in about an hour about an ill-fated romance.

Untitled for now

Underneath the apple trees in spring
I met a girl with unmatched beauty

Delicate pale face framed by inky tresses
Eyes the color of unpolished emerald
Lips like the soft flesh of a newborn
Slim and petite and altogether feminine

It was under the shade of the apple trees
That I fell in love with this beautiful girl
I asked her name, and she responded
“I am not a woman that man should know.”

I begged and begged and begged,
But still she refused to tell me her name.
Finally, she said, “If I am to tell you this,
You must promise never to regret it.”

Thinking that I could never regret knowing
A divine creature such as this, I complied
As soon as I did, her face turned ugly and
Her smile curled into a cruel grin.

“No regrets, you say? Better for me.
Regrets make the mortal soul go rotten
And the flesh turn sour and tasteless.”
And then, in one instant she was upon me.

I could feel her hooked claws and devil’s teeth
Digging, tearing into my now exposed flesh
In pain I cried out, “You lied to me, demon!
You have not yet told me your name!”

She paused, as if struck by an unknown force
Looking up from my rent and wet torso
Her lips curling again as she calmly said
“My name, foolish man, is Empusa.”

It was then, under the apple trees in spring,
That I was devoured by Empusa, soul and all.

I think it's very good, qh. And a Google search for "Empusa" made it even more interesting.
Mithril! The dwarves tell no tales. But just as it was the foundation of their wealth, so also it was their destruction. They delved too greedily and too deep, and disturbed that from which they fled.

Indeed, well written. Avoidance of the succubus.... Who can avoid that which becomes unavoidable.

Two poems about working in the lab...

The darkness is cold
As I prod at dead men's cells.
This is a triumph.
A turning knob and fingers fly,
A sliver passes tunneled eyes.
A false alarm- no treasure shows
But one more knob- a flower grows.
Spreading forth branches weaving past,
A glowing etching before the glass.
I wait for liquid light to run,
When suddenly something jerks undone.
My insides quickly realize that
The cafeteria’s enchilada has counterattacked
And seeks to exit from the back.
While I sit and sing this ballad,
I knew I should have gone with the salad.
Guo run! Guo run!!!!

She stands under the concrete awning and stares out
at the raindrops beating a tattoo on the sidewalk
I edge past her as I head towards my mother's car
pulled up to the curb with the door hanging open
the upholstery is wet, and I sit down with a cringe
as it soaks into the seat of my "husky"-sized jeans

"Ask her if she needs a ride," my mother tells me
my face goes red at the idea of talking to that girl
with the leather jacket and the rumpled trousers
a large purse with silver buckles danging from one hand
"She's fine," I insist, glancing at her sideways

My mother watches her in the mirror as we drive away
she hasn't moved, still staring into the rain
suddenly I remember that she had pale eyes
they weren't grey, and they weren't quite green
I don't think she blinked once while we waited
watching the rain from underneath the concrete awning

We turn onto the main road and speed away
I sink back into the damp seat and try to relax
the heater is on full blast and I turn the vent away
"I wonder if she's cold," my mother says loudly
and I think to myself that she must be under that awning
the wind blows under and around in an invisible twister
sucking the warmth right out of you

Mother looks over her shoulder, back along the road
"what if something happens to her?" she asks me
I just shrug at her; "I dunno, Mom. What if?"
She turns around and heads back, refusing to look at me

I just sigh and sit back, wondering what she'll think
when we pull up and honk at her, probably mortified
that she attracted the notice of freaks like us
I'll never be able to pass her by in school ever again
if she saw me she'd duck her head and run on
trying to escape the memory of when she was abducted
by a fat pasty boy and his obtuse mother

The gears grind as the car climbs the hill towards
the parking lot, the rain still coming down hard,
and I stare upward as water streams across the windshield
the rain is still beating a tattoo on the sidewalk
we pull up to the curb, and I peer into the gloom under
the concrete awning, but I see nobody there

She is gone.

My head rests on the pillow. The quilt is warm and smooth. I am peaceful.
Sunshine on the door, the curtain is not yet drawn.
The morning air retains the youthful taste of spring
briefly come, arriving while I was sleeping.
