Slick:

Glad you liked it, bud. Thank you again for your gracious comments, they're most appreciated! I should have my irksome 'Vash' sketch completed within a day or so; I'm sure you'll like that as well. :D

Kristina:

Thanks for taking the time to view my poem; I'm avidly aware that you're mired in studying and your leisure time is limited right now, but still you found the time to comment for me. You're a angel, babe. :D

It's not perfect, not by a long shot, but here's that Vash the Stampede sketch I was talking about.

He has one eye open and one shut, if you were wondering!

Thanks, mate! Yeah, I'm a huge fan of Trigun too. I almost didn't finish this sketch because I could NOT get the gun to look how I wanted it to.

Anyway, thanks again, 239! :D

Sorry about the double post...but I've been pondering on whether or not I should post some excerpts from an old novel draft I have to hand. It's entitled Aikuchi or 'Hidden Sword', and it's a diverse thriller set in Japan and Eastern Europe.
I rendered it somewhat obsolete with some lackluster and directionless chapters, imo, however I've re-read it extensively and have come to the conclusion that it's salvageable, albeit with amendments and better research.

Uhh, if I do post the opening chapter later on today, could someone please give it a quick once-over? Any feedback will be graciously received. :D

P.S - Should I post the prologue too, or won't that be necessary?

If you plan on getting it published at some point I'd recommend against it.

I considered the implications of posting material that one day I might wish to get published, however I'm dubious of the merits of this partial-novel to the point where I can't see any publisher giving it so much as a second glance.

With that in mind, I'll just post the bloody thing and hope I don't have a change of heart later on!

Okay, change of plan! The novel's going to have to be put on hiatus for the time being, because for the first time in over a year I've had a creative flourish.

My thanks go to Azileron on this one; he imparted some excellent advice earlier regarding a method to overcome writer's block. And, it worked! Well, I hope it did...

The Ne'er Trodden Path

From the first encounter, from the very first touch,
The fire within was ignited; awoken was a new passion

Never before experienced was the intensity of her love,
Never before felt were the joys of this wonderful, delicate rose

Time stood still, and days merged into weeks,
Every beat of her heart was a moment to cherish

Life held a renewed purpose,
I had found the key to my soul...

...Too soon the rapture slid away, like echoes into the night,
Too soon did the magic dissipate, akin to the decay of a blossom

Before my swollen heart could anticipate the anguish unraveling...
...She was gone

Another fleeting glimpse of love, lost in the cruel winds of time,
Another shadow of redemption had returned to the darkness, tearing the happiness from my agonized grasp...

And still I wait to this day; I wait for the fair rose to return,

Waiting, hoping, yearning - as the sting of my tears torment my very existence...forevermore...

Edit: The title is bugging me...is there already a poem called 'The Ne'er Trodden Path'? :?

For some weird reason, the last poem makes me think of your avatar
It is curious that the Americans, who calculate so carefully on the possibilities of military victory, do not realize that in the process they are incurring deep psychological and political defeat.
