My Zoo of ancient Chinese generals (animal pictures!)

So my 21 year old childhood cat passed away last year. I didn't live with her anymore, but still, I was very very sad. She was the best.
I decided, though, that it was time I got a pet. So I decided to get a fish and name it Yu Jin. This is not a water-related joke! Yu Jin and Jin Yu (goldfish) are homophones! Well, they weren't at the time of the Three Kingdoms but that doesn't matter.
I tried to find a gold one, but I couldn't, but he needed to have at least a little gold on him, and at least I was able to do that:

He's beautiful and I love him. He's a jerk. He's also extraordinarily lazy.

Instead of swimming, he lets the filter inlet suck him in a little and just keep him in place.
Now you may be asking yourself about that poor snail trapped in there with Yu Jin. That's Zhu Ling, the Golden Mystery Snail.

I always felt bad for Zhu Ling in history, because he seemed to be a really capable general but still the target of Cao Cao's ire. But now I understand why Cao Cao was so annoyed by him:

Golden Mystery snails are supposed to eat dead plant matter, of which there's plenty. But no, not Zhu Ling. He ended up eating ALL of my LIVE plants from the top down. They didn't die, so they're growing back, but . . . I understand Cao Cao.
But wait, there's more!
Now for the past 15 years or so I've known that if I were to get a cat, I would name him after Zhang He. So I did.

This is Junyi. I got him just before Christmas. Kept seeing him on the LA Animal Services website and thought I ought to just go take a look at him, planned to adopt after the New Year . . . but of course, I got him that day.
He's the sweetest boy ever. Nine months old:

But, much like the real general, he's pretty smart.

He got into the treats.

I went from having 0 animals to 3 in the course of like three months. No regrets.
