#SoSZ, our IRC chatroom

Scholars of Shen Zhou and Kongming’s Archives now have an official IRC channel. You can connect to an IRC channel (think of a channel as a chat room) to converse with other members of our forum, and viewers of Kongming’s Archives, in a real-time online chat. To participate you should download an IRC client (or use Mibbit to connect online) and enter the following information:

Server: irc.lunarnet.org
Channel: #sosz

(Our IRC channel is hosted on LunarNet. LunarNet’s address is irc.lunarnet.org. LunarNet hosts numerous chat rooms [channels]. Ours is named #sosz.)

Mibbit: Replace [NAME] with your name.

The Code of Laws
As #SoSZ is dedicated to the forum, all of the rules that are applied to the forum are applied here. However, certain areas need added on to because of the lack of consideration for live chat.

No bots and use of scripts.

No attempts to deliberately disrupt the general use of the channel. e.g. flooding, user abuse, spamming.

To ignore someone, type /ignore +personyouwannaignore To unignore them, use a - where the + is. Also, if you are using Mibbit, click the user's name in the sidebar and under the dropdown list, select 'Ignore.'

If the Red Overlords (a.k.a. the Admins) have any comments or concerns about the rules, please PM me.

IRC is an instant messager of sorts, and the channels are basically chatrooms.

If anybody is interested in chatting regularly with some of the SoSZ crowd, please sign up for this. It is pretty cool for those who enjoy internet chat, but unless people participate, it doesn't really amount to much.

OH HECK YES, I AM SO IN ON THIS.

...Uh, I actually don't know how to get on IRC...I'm using Pidgin and...could use some a lot of help. Where do I even start?

Use Mibbit. It's very simple.

After a bit of mucking around, I can IRC with y'all on Pidgin, and IRC with others on QuakeNet. It's been a good day!

I don't know if anyone else here uses Pidgin and needs help with getting on IRC with it, but give me a holler if you need help...

Actually, I'll put it up anyway. I'm not sure how many people who use Pidgin need help with setting up an IRC account, but here it is for reference:

How to manage IRC using Pidgin

1. Via Buddy List: Accounts --> Manage accounts
2. Add
3. Protocol: IRC
4. Username: What you want your nickname to be in IRC.
5. Server: Depends. In this case it will be irc.lunarnet.org
6. Password: No idea.
7. Add
8. After that the IRC account is added to your Pidgin buddy list.
9. Via Buddy List: Buddies --> Join a Chat
10. Account: Whatever your IRC account is.
11. Room: Whatever the room is. In this case it's #SoSZ
12. Join

Some browsers like Opera has IRC inbuilt so you don't need a client. Just type irc://irc.lunarnet.org/#SoSZ into the browser.
