Nigeria's central bank governor Lamido Sanusi, who recently warned a lot of oil money (20 billion dollars worth) had gone missing, has been suspended by President Goodluck Jonathan for "financial recklessness and misconduct". Even with President Goodluck thinks Sanusi has been trying to damage re-election changes recently, this does not send a good message out.

Anyone think the Ukraine deal will last? The west seems certain it won't last very long and troubles will return.

UK has chosen little known singer-songwriter Molly Smitten-Downes and her song "Children of the Universe" (I pray less peace and love then title sounds) for Eurovision. Great move, BBC should use this to either bring in established superstars, which it can't afford/get, or help break through rising talent

Croatia accuse Serbian leaders of denying genocide committed in the early 90's, Serbia counter-suing for expulsions of Serbs and say the crimes happened but it wasn't genocide. Meanwhile Japan seems to be trying to provoke everyone by deciding to review whether they were right to apologise for all the women who suffered under Japanese armies during WW2.

Beppe Grillo to be jailed (subject to appeal) for four months after being convicted of breaking into a sealed-off construction site

-The current longest serving PM in Europe has resigned: Andrus Ansip resigning after nine years so his Reform party can find a successor before Estonia's 2015 elections.

-Venezuela breaks ties with Panama

-Costa Rican' Johnny Araya withdraws from race for President which leaves the historian Luis Guillermo Solis as the only candidate at the moment. Well not technically withdraws but won't be trying to win the contest in any way at all.

-Saudi Arabia, Bahrain and the UAE have withdrawn their ambassadors from Qatar, accusing the latter of meddling in their affairs.

I thought this was already happening but Cuba has agreed to open talks with the EU on bilateral relations with EU hoping to complete a deal by end of 2015. I doubt this will make the EU feel better...

-Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy William Ruto take a 20% paycut, rest of cabinet take 10% pay hit with the President urging Parliament to take a paycut as well.

-Rwanda and South Africa expel each others diplomats though South Africa seem to have reason.

-Saudi Arabia orders it's people not to fight abroad or face prison sentences and declares Muslim Brotherhood to be terrorists.

-Former DR Congo warlord Germain Katanga found guilty of warcrimes (though not direct involvement) but acquitted of sexual offences and use of child soldiers.

-Malaysian opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim jailed for five years on sodomy charges but free on bail while he appeals.

-All of the Maldives election commission have been given suspended jail sentences for disobeying election guidelines as the commission keeps clashing with the judicial system. EU observes make a point of praising the election commission

Recount with both sides ignoring the request not to declare victory with the side who seem to have lost in first count already claiming they were cheated.

-New Zealand having referendum on national flag on 20th September with both parties supporting it. Quite like the flag but can understand if they want a new symbol, not so sure on the silver fern idea.

-Prime Minister Netanyahu rants about world hypocrisy and clearly unhappy over Baroness Ashton talks with Iran

-South Sudan accuses UN of arming rebels but UN does admit to transporting weapons by road rather then air so violating an agreement.
