Rest in peace to the Navy Seals who were killed today in the helicopter, along with the few citizens from the Middle East (Afghanistan, I believe they were from) It's terrible that they never made it to safety.

Yup, and it looks like everyone who is linked to Osama one way or the other, will just have to rest in peace. Damn this Osama, he is a jinx to all connected to him....Heck, even those who killed him end up like him, too.

I find your theory possible, for I'm sure you and I aren't the only ones who have accounted for the exact scenario. Well not just Osama, damn all of Taliban too and any terrorist out there, whether they're from the Middle East of Australia or even here. But yes, since this thread is relative to the "deceased" leader of the terrorist group of Al Qaeda, damn him and his followers who have either carried out his will one way or another or just got the idea to enact revenge. Revenge rarely solves anything.

You know, it's weird. Who knows where the people on that helicopter are right now. Heaven, some might say, or rebirth? The next stage of life, I'm not sure. I just wonder if it's any better then here, and there just shrugging their shoulders, saying "Hey, don't mourn for me too much, I'm in the next stage of life and it's great." Might sound odd, but that's just my logic (I'm not afraid of passing), and I apologize for the small random rant, but I just feel like it's in place for this post.

Well, we wouldn't know if the Taliban that shot down the chopper knew beforehand that those on board were the very guys who killed the beloved al Qaeda leader in cold blood or not, but logically, they should not have known....

Or even if it's just a coincidence that this happens to be the deadliest attack on American soldiers in Afghanistan since the war began 10 years ago (which is a long time).

So it has to be one hell of a "lucky" shot there.

Well the whole thing was practically broadcasted around the world, along with information on the unit of Navy Seals that I don't think had ever been publicly announced as specifically existing within the ranks of the Seals (just that they existed, the procedure they went through that night, how durable in these types of situations they are etc). That much media coverage is enough to get word circling of a special ops unit located in the Middle East (the very one that did the dirty work), and I'm sure the terrorist group had ways of finding out their location or had a good guess, I'm sure not all of the terrorist members that night were assassinated.

Another thing that caught my attention is that the media stated that Osama had a stash of pornography, which was seen as disgraceful to many of his supporters in the Middle East, and many stopped believing and supporting him for this alone. I think that this could have been the work of the US government, it's certainly a possibility and capable tactic in this situation.

I'd think that Navy SEALs are supposed to do covert military operations, so their movements are never known, at least not to their enemy.

And I would have thought these guys who killed the most infamous man of the past 10 years would at least receive better protection and appreciation from their govt and commanding officers, rather than being exposed and killed like that (wonder if they received any medals).

Regarding what you said, there's always the theory that Osama was always a double agent, and "The Face" for the "War on Terror" or the one that was supposed to "launch" it off. And after he overstayed his use, was put to pasture....

I would have thought that unit would have been moved out of the Middle East and into a safer place for awhile, Osama's killers were going to be a target for Osama's followers after his death. Or the Taliban got extremely lucky

You read my mind too. The whole thing just defies all logic.

PS: And it stinks.

The failure to move them to a safer area? Never underestimate the power of human stupidity and carelessness.

None of the SEALS that died in the downed helicopter took any part int the killing of Osama bin Laden. The SEALS just happened to be in the same group/unit.
