A problem for the South may be that Heglig has undermined, in international eyes, to be the innocent party. It seems to be seen as the flame that turned simmering problems into war, whether view is fair or not so may be a bad PR blunder.

Though President Bashir is really trying to hand the South international backing with that kind of speech :roll:

South Sundan has withdrawn/retreated from Heglig after heavy bombing. Pity it seems to have been a forced withdrawal as giving it up might have been a good gesture of goodwill

A UN mission to deal with land-mines is arrested by Sudan near Heglig. Seems Sudan has deemed this proof that South Sudan is being helped by foreigners.
