Just recently heard about this fellow for the first time. My first impression is that his popularity comes not from necessarily being the best swordsman (sadly, people tend to conflate "best" and "most famous"), but from his great dedication. Isn't dedication one of the things people admire most about the samurai? And, while samurai usually dedicated themselves to particular lords who are now long forgotten, Musashi dedicated himself to something more abstract, and this has made him a timeless figure.
Mithril! The dwarves tell no tales. But just as it was the foundation of their wealth, so also it was their destruction. They delved too greedily and too deep, and disturbed that from which they fled.
