Sun Shang Xiang...

Unread postby X-Zero » Fri Jul 04, 2003 6:08 pm

I read the book. YAY, anyways, I read the part when she hears the death of Liu Bei, she drowned herself... But then I went to Kongming's Archives and read her BiO, it said nothing about her drowning, but she helping Liu Shan rule etc etc. What is the exact thing that happened? Did she drown herself, or she lived and died of natural causes...?

I believe that she died of natural causes; the drowning was supposed to show "devotion" to Liu Bei. I thought she returned to Sun Quan after Xuan De's death?

I honestly just started reading it :? But I might as well have read it already because I pretty much just collect information through what you all have said. ....Oh yeah, it's the Brewitt-Taylor translation; don't laugh at me! But I atleast can understand the names, since I already know all the generals, almost. My only worry is that I might end up saying Chou Yu instead of Zhou Yu after I'm done.

Are you taking that from a video game, or the book? Women had no power back then. By the way, mine is also by Luo Guanzhong, too. But who translated your version, or do you read chinese?

According to the real history, Sun Shang Xiang never exist, anyway Sun Quan's sister really married with Liu Bei but her name was not Sun Shiang Xiang. 8-)
