I started to like Ma Chao when I played the game DW3 then I learned about the book and read that, and my facination carried on from there.
I shall destroy ye in a single blow.

Ma Chao did no meritous service when serving Shu. He was quite useless.

I'm neutral to Ma Chao, I don't find him useful or useless.
Huang Zhong: Are you calling me old?!
Wei Yan: ...Yes.
Huang Zhong: Liu Bei! I demand you kill him!
Liu Bei: Well it's... true...

Ma Chao was fought for revenge against Cao Cao. He joined Shu to see I he could do so. But I must admit that he didn't do much.

Ma Chao shtinks metinks very much. He was freakin useless for anything besides gettin his whole clan exterminated, cept for Ma Dai he did something. Ma Dai shouldve been in games and not Ma Chao.

Dynasty Warriors....and all other Koei games, for that matter, are largely based on the novel, where Ma Chao was a great hero....

Yes but I'm talking from a historical standpoint. Ma Chao was great in the books but in true life he was just useless. He was there just to be there.

In the novel, he's an alright guy. Pretty good, easily one of the coolest guys in the book. In history he was...hrm...not that great...I don't have much taste for him in real history.

IMO, Ma Chao was not useless. It is just that after he joining Shu-Han he became less visible in the history. This could happen maybe because Liu Bei not trusted him very much. Therefore, his ability not been fully used in Shu-Han. That's the reason why we see less Ma Chao's action after he joined Liu Bei. :?
