Unread postby Asellas » Fri Jan 17, 2003 3:49 pm

I'm just wondering if Yuan Shao could have ruled China.I think he could have but how did his army get wipeout by Cao Cao who had no where near had as many troops as Yuan Shoa had.Or could he have been to clever.[/list]

Yuan Shao's too arrogant to do so...he didn't listen to his advisors and after Guandu, many of his beat generals abandoned him like Zhang He. Even with Wen Chou and Yan Liang, he might have not been able to conquer China.....

i dont think he could have ruled china. he might take a good amount of land but not take over the whole land. if yuan shao listen to his people the battle of cao cao and yuan shao would have been interesting. he needed more good fighters though.

Yes, he could have. Yuan Shao had a much larger force than Cao Cao, and if he listened to his advisors, and if his sons weren't disunified he could have. Just like what happened at Guan Du. If he would have won, pretty much all of Cao's territory would fall to Shao, and just play Yuan Shao as if he were Cao Cao. Yuan Shao certainly had more lineage and authority to the land rather than Cao Cao, because of his noble name, Yuan.

He had the name, troops, support, and some good men (aka Wen Chou and Yan Liang). He had a comfortable base and had the troops to destroy anyone who opposed him. Based on his resources yes he could have, but no he wouldn't because he was very intelligent and couldn't make up his mind. He had all of China at his fingertips but couldn't take advantage of it, so Cao Cao did.

I'm wondering if Yan Liang and Wen Chou are as good as they're made out to be. I wouldn't be surprised if Luo Guanzhong made them seem like great generals to make Guan Yu look better.

You never know. I think they had to be alright or they wouldn't have anytype of rep. like they did. But Luo Guanzhong had to make a story and so he did. A very well written story.
