"The battle of Red Cliff" new Spanish book

Unread postby Tao Qian » Sun Jun 30, 2019 7:39 pm

Hello everybody,

I just want to say that finally a Spanish company is publishing "La batalla del Acantilado Rojo", a book I've created using my translations of the chapters related to the battle in the Romance of the Three Kingdoms novel.

As always, thanks to all the people in this forum that answered all my questions about the period.

Now I hope that someone would read it. :D

Kind of 35-55, let me explain.

Well, it starts with 2 fake chapters using different parts from the book. In these 2 chapters the main characters are appearing (Cao Cao, Liu Bei, Guan Yu, Zhang Fei and Zhuge Liang), but it is not a summary of the rest of the novel. Then chapters 39-50 from the novel. Afet that, another fake chapter that summarizes chapters 51-55, so the book ends after the funeral of Zhou Yu.

I think that in this way the whole battle can be explained without a long introduction and the reader knows what happened with the province of Jingzhou (more or less, at least).

The original idea was to finish in chapter 50, but I've noticed that then there was no real ending to the situation (I think that is one of the reasons why John Woo finishes Red Cliff with this weird scene with the three guys pointing each other with swords).

What do you think?

That sounds excellent to me! Have you translated from the original Chinese?

No, from English. My Chinese is not good enough. From time to time I'm checking some stuff from the original, specially official titles (and it's that is not enough I'm asking in this forum).

If you’re checking the Chinese at all then yours is a darn sight better than my non-existent Chinese! It really does sound like an awesome achievement! The cover art looks cool too! Do you have a release date?
