The false narrative has already been created, they are following the novel which had huge cultural impact and shaped how history was viewed. In that, Liu Bei is a saint (who has his brain removed by Zhuge Liang) and sure, the historical Liu Bei wasn't that good (he was a kind man by all accounts but he was a successful warlord which one doesn't get to be by being a saint) though he was far greater in abilities then novel allows him.

I agree, Wu could be a great basis for a TV show.
