Could Shan Fu have seen through Zhou Yu's tricks?

Unread postby darkphantom744 » Sun Aug 29, 2010 12:08 pm

If Shan Fu was in the Wu camp instead of ZGL alongside with Zhou Yu during the Battle of Chi Bi, and Zhou Yu order Huang Gai to be flogged, could Shan Fu see through the trick?

Most definately. Shan Fu may not have been equal to Kongming i suppose, but he was close. In my opinion he was a better strategist, advisor etc than Zhou Yu, so i'd be heavily inclined to say yes!

Assuming we are talking novel

No. Xu Shu was capable enough to defeat the novel Cao Ren but the novel Cao Ren is not that smart. His knowledge of his friend Pang Tong was the only other time he showed smarts so why would he be able to cope against someone of Zhou Yu's ability?

Based on history? Even more so Zhou Yu. Xu Shu was a law officer, compared to a man who took part in several camapigns?

Since when has Xu Shu been called Shan Fu?

I agree with Dong.

And I don't really know if Kongming saw through Zhou Yu's plan, historically :?:

Anyways, history-wise it's obvious as Dong Zhou stated, Xu Shu was a low ranking official who didn't do much for Liu Bei.

In the novel, yes. He saw through Pang Tong's chaining trick.
