Cao Cao's Grandfather's grave found. Hints to others too.

Unread postby Terranigma Freak » Sat Sep 05, 2009 1:43 am

I saw a program on TV (Chinese channel) that talk about the discovery or Cao Cao's grandfather's tomb. I'm not sure if this is a recent discovery because I caught it midway. What's interesting is that there might be hints to Cao Cao, Xu Chu, and Zhang Liao's grave sites as well. They suspect a certain place might be it, and that Xu Chu and Zhang Liao's graves might be nearby. Cao Cao's one of the few kings in Chinese history where his grave is still so well hidden. This is pretty exciting!

That would be great. How do they know Xu Chu's and Zhang Liao's were nearby?
No one can stop the flow of time. But a moment captured in the frame of the heart will never disappear. That will be shown at the bottom of their hearts, and will always give off a great feeling. Sweet...and bitter.

I wonder how big Xu Chu's bones will be.

I seriously doubt there's anything left of them. It depends on how well preserved they were. If it's done badly, they're nothing but dust by now. Besides, it's not their bones that people want, it's the artifacts that get buried that will enlighten us more about the 3 Kingdoms era.

How do they know Xu Chu's and Zhang Liao's were nearby?

Only hints and guesses right now based on some text they found.

Terranigma Freak,

This show you saw, is the grandfather they were talking about Cao Teng? I am unaware if the Chinese have discovered who Cao Song's real father was or Cao Cao's maternal grandfather. I assume it is Teng, but please forgive if me if I ask a silly question.

Yes, it was Cao Teng's grave. It was pretty lavished and assumed that Cao Cao had to rebuilt/enhanced or something. Again, I didn't catch the beginning.

Terranigma Freak,

Alright, thank you for answering my question. I would of thought if the grave had been enhanced that would have been Cao Pi's doing. After his ascension to the throne Cao Pi had his great-grandfather elevated as Emperor Gao. But if the Chinese are saying that Cao Cao had enhanced the grave that would make sense as well. Honoring his grandfather would have made a great political ploy as it demonstrated his filial piety.

The idea that Cao Cao was ashamed of his connection to a eunuch (and that he was originally a Xiahou) is a myth, created by the author of the Cao Man Zhuan. The Cao Man Zhuan was a book written in Wu to discredit the Cao dynasty of Wei.

Actually, I might be wrong about Cao Cao enhancing the grave. Again, caught it midway. There was mention of Cao Pi doing something, but I forgot. The show just caught me by surprise.

Is there any way to find the name of this program? I'd love to (try to) watch it.
