Jiang wei is good.. i cant say he isn't good but ma chao is even stronger..

he was an even match for zhang fei and he held of Xu Zhu..

and could have defeated cao cao in Tong Gate if he had people supporting the castle.. which unfortunately he did not

ma chao only greatness was his strenght he was good in dueling but other than .. :x

jiang wei on the other hand

was good leader led shu in many battles although had many defeats
was good fighter as he fought zhao yun to a draw
was smart as he used many tricks and foiled many from deng ai

in the end he is too young to be a tiger in fact he did not join shu so wei yan should have ma chao place

maybe ur right about wei yan having ma chao place..
maybe tht old man huang zhong place..

now.
Jiang wei was a big nothing without Zhuge Liang help.
he led shu into defeats against wei. caused the fall of shu..

led 7 campaigns(i think) against wei and none of them was a successes.

then when the shu power was totally drained.... and wei attacked so shu had no other choice except to surrender especially when liu chan was the sovereign of cheng du the capital.. and he was yelling and hitting his weapon on the ground whining about why they surrender...

now another stupid person is Guan yu:-
you see.... when Wu attacked him he requested reinforcements from Liu Feng which was the closest Prefect near him but Liu Fend refused and then later excuted by Liu Bei cause Guan Yu was killed by Wu... even if Liu Fend send reinforcements... he will not be able to make it since Wu were surronding Guan Yu..

Final Words: the only good ones and strong ones from Shu are few.. and i asure you that Jiang wei is not one of them.

I'm assuming this is novel based?

led 7 campaigns(i think) against wei and none of them was a successes.

He did thrash Wang Jing but how do you expect any real success against a bigger kingdom if Chen Tai/Deng Ai/Guo Huai, all skilled commanders facing you?

you see.... when Wu attacked him he requested reinforcements from Liu Feng which was the closest Prefect near him but Liu Fend refused and then later excuted by Liu Bei cause Guan Yu was killed by Wu... even if Liu Fend send reinforcements... he will not be able to make it since Wu were surronding Guan Yu..

The idea was for Liu Feng to act as a distraction so forcing Lu Meng to weak a bit of the besiegers and so Guan Yu could cut a way out and escape. Nobody was expecting Liu Feng to beat Lu Meng singlehanded but to give Guan Yu a chance to escape. As for stupid, hadn't Guan Yu served succesfully as Liu Bei's early advisor and wiped out Yu Jin's army with a brilliant ploy only one person saw coming?

In regards the novel Ma Chao and the novel Jiang Wei, both have things to their credit. Ma Chao was beloved by the Qiang's which was useful, he was probably the best cavalry commander in the novel and had given Cao Cao a real headache as well as being a skilled warrior. Jiang Wei was, for me, one of the last great duellers in the book and is certainly a smart, if temperamental, man who was fighting against heavy odds.
