Zhuge Liang's best strategies

Unread postby Rakoru Hiryuu » Sun Aug 12, 2007 5:40 am

Everybody knows that ZL is the better strategist but I only know few of them:
The boats to "borrow" the arrows
The open gates against Sima Yi
The wood ZL on the Wu Zhang Plains

Debatable. While certainly a genius in every aspect, I don't feel he was the best in the era. You should avoid making such generalizations. ;)

Now, are we talking novel or history? Because historically, not one of those strategies was actually carried out or thought up by Zhuge Liang.

My favorite Zhuge moment was definitely the Southern Campaign. Even though Yong Kai, Meng Huo, and their lackeys weren't exactly the most talented folks, it was a precarious situation that he handled extremely well.

Historically i think his best was his first surprise attack on Wei. The strategy was great, just his execution of it failed in appointing Ma Su.

What context are we talking about here? Novelwise, I like the empty city ploy, historically the surprise attack on Wei
“You, are a rebellious son who abandoned his father. You are a cruel brigand who murdered his lord. How can Heaven and Earth put up with you for long? And unless you die soon, how can you face the sight of men?”

Ambush of Wang Shuang after Chen Cang and Zhang He at Mumen.

And yes, he's the greatest strategist of the era.
