I guess I would prefer an idiot over a sadist.

Liu Shan did well in his early timne as ruler, only when Dong Yun died did things go bad. Capable enough, I would choose him over a man whose tyranny destroyed any chance Wu had of recovering

I would choose Liu Shan because, even though he was an idiot, his kingdom would still survive with capable advisors and he wasn't exactly evilwhereas Sun Hao was evil and a tyrant.

Ooof..What a pair to choose from, indeed..Guess I would rather pick Liu Shan, as at least I can control his actions from behind the throne, rather than that sadistic egotistical borderline maniac, Sun Hao.

I'd say Liu Shan is a better ruler than Sun Hao because he wasn't an evil tyrant whose royal guards plundered the countryside.

They were both bad rulers in my opinion so I can't make a distinction!!

Should this not be in the Verus Thread??

I too would chose a fool over a tyrnat any day.

I don't think Liu Shan was incapable. He just never had the dream or the aspirations of his father and of the old Shu.

Liu Shan, no contest. Though not the greatest leader, he was smart enough to manage the kingdom and only started doing bad when Huang Hao was corrupting him. Sun Hao, however, tortured alleged criminals, gained numerous concubines, and rejected the advice of some of Wu's most trusted officials and officers. Though weak, at least Liu Shan would listen (he just didn't care who).

I agree with the others here-- definitely Liu Shan. I think he just put too much trust in that eunuch. At least he wasn't so brutual as Sun Hao. Sun Hao was a bad leader and quickly alienated his most trusted and dedicated followers by being so cruel.
