You can check his SGZ bio here. I was unable to view it. This is what it told me:

Cao Ren's SGZ Biography is at that thread. Or Why is Cao Ren so revered?.

You can also check this one out too.

Cao Ren was a great general. He had to defend Wei's foothold in Jing and he did it admirably. He also saved Niu Jin from death even though his advisors told him not to.

From what I recall, he was pretty much Cao Cao's right arm during the fight with Yuan Shao. Also, wasn't he the one who gave the advise that helped Cao Cao beat Gao Gan?

I thought that it was Yue Jin who played the biggest part in defeating Gao Gan. I could be wrong however.

Was he a great general? I'm not entirely sure, but he was not a bad general, either. Out of Cao Cao's extended family, he probably was the greatest, after Cao Cao himself, of course.

Very good general, I would go as far to say he was a great general from what I have heard and read. I put him on par with Sun/Wu's Cheng Pu, on many levels... Their fighting prowess, ability to lead an army, being reasonably rational, and loyalty to their Lords.

Without Cao Ren, there most certainally would have been a ton of changes in history. I rate him highly.

I remember writing something about him when I first joined, and the plain and simple fact is that Coa Coa had such a diverce range of officers, that when you compare Cao Ren to the others, the likes of Xu Chu and Huang are always going to look better, due to the amount f duels they have in the novel, and the fact they're van guard commanders. I think Xiahou Dun is very similar to Cao Ren, in the fact that he wasn't the most attacking general, but deserves alot of credit for his contributions. Cao Ren was a good fighter, and the best defensive general in the whole period. The fact that he lost Jing to Shu was due to him facing one nermy and the other sneaking up behind him. I would class him with Zhang Liao, Dun and Xu Huang

Is it me or does that sound more like a Zhang He saying!!
