WC3 has been hacked allready , maphack that is. It is a sublte hack but a very important one that gives an unfair advantage to the user.
See :,10870,6023247,00.html

Well we had maphack in diablo 2 but Blizzy didn't do squat about it..., BUT WC3 is a VERY different game where extra knowledge of your surroundings can cause the the entire ladder system to be loaded. So to speak...

Side -option a poll. I hope I do this right .....

Blizzard will fix this, but the problem is, as soon as they do, people will be hard at work making yet another one. Will tey ban CD keys? Perhaps. Will it help? Nope, it won't do anything. Besides, these people are likely to go buy another copy, or get another key, and get back on anyway.

Blizzard can do whatever they want, but at the same time, people will undermine their efforts anyway. It's an exercise in futility, in many ways.

Yes they will, I am certain. This is because Blizzard have already ban CD-keys En-Mass on accounts that have been known to have been hacking or Dupping on D2. They've done it before, so naturally they'll be able to do it again.

Banning CD Keys can weed out the casual Hackers. Those who just DL Hack programs and run it. Which can be a lot of help in Hacking detterence if gamers are notified and shown examples of severe punishment for even modest hackings. Of course it would never stop all hacking but if you can minimize the chances of the game being hacked it's all for the better for both Blizzard and the gamers.

And that's a reason why they will ban CD-keys.. because many people will go out and buy another copy, and (hopefully) learn their lesson and not cheat/hack with it. And Blizzard will make more money, as they're selling the game twice to some people. ;) I think it is something that has to be done, though, to preserve the game's integrity. Whenever you have online games pitting player against player, you need to make sure its on a level playing field, and if you have to ban cheaters to ensure that, then do it. One strike and they're out.

The only problem with these thoughts is the fact that Blizzard tends to not ban CD Keys for people that deserve it.

My advice is if you do not want your CD key banned for no reason, just play against those you know. If you don't cheat, nothing should go wrong.
