I seem to only play and re-play older games now, I lack the drive to jump on each new mega game as it comes out, I haven't played the last two Resident Evil games and one time I used to wait with baited breath for each new one, I even bought a Dreamcast so I could play Code Veronica since it was system exclusive back then.

I'm a big Final Fantasy fan from years ago but the celebration one that just came out doesn't really interest me and I am not even sure I will try FF15 when it finally comes. Skyrim held my attention for just two weeks whereas Morrowind years ago had me addicted for months.

I guess I'm just getting old and set in my ways.

Moved the PS4 into the family room to take advantage of the big TV, having a smartphone has changed things a bit, noticed how much more I'm using online stories (origin, PSN, steam extra) rather then buying hard copies of games now, how much DLC value and pre-order bonuses are changing the way I buy

In terms of games, less JRPG's, hack and slashes, strategy and shooteers then before. My games tend to RPG's, action/platforming, co-op games nowadays

I find myself retro gaming, buying older ps1/ps2/ps3 games I missed out on, and working through them. I particularly like older rpg classics. I am currently progressing through the Arc the Lad trilogy, after beating the first.

I used to play a lot of games at a time, like juggling 10 or so games, and I wouldn't finish many of them. That was just how I liked to enjoy games. Dipping in here and there, get a taste of a lot of different flavours.

Then Destiny came out and I pretty much played nothing but that for 3 years, except for the odd little game in between content gaps. The key to the shift wasn't the game itself per se, but the social experience it facilitated. My brother, my brother-in-law, his brother, and one of my oldest friends all got the game, so we were all able to play together and hang out in party chat together. It's pretty much the first/only game that has allowed that kind of long-term (so not, e.g. Rock Band) IRL social experience. Love it. Looking forward to starting Destiny 2 with them soon.
