i had my new desktop last week, the previous one was gone along with my saves. It feels good to start a new one as a hybrid of nearly everything. Sneak + Destro + melee + heavy armor character; as a Breton. Both physical and magical combat proficient

Been playing legendary edition for dozens of hours lately. Finished Dawnguard and Dragonborn storylines but didn't touch other storylines aside from necessary progress in the main quest required to unlock Dawnguard. Looking forward to riding Odahwing now :D Also will be fun to have both Odahwing and Durnehvir taking down stormcloaks as soon as I get 100 in conjuration. If only Grigori from Dragon's Dogma was available
Doing my best to resist the temptation of abusing restoration potions exploit and also don't fast travel except when riding dragons. But the biggest limitation that I put on my character is realistic sleeping and eating patterns. Completely changed the gameplay for me. Fighting random encounters is out of question now. I don't abuse wait command either now although there's gonna be exceptions, for the sake of a Double Dragon escort for example.
There's no trick to it. I'm not using an orbment, it's not magic...and I'm not using an artifact, either. I just will fire to appear, and it does.

Honestly, this game totally beats the hell out of Oblivion and is actually keeping my interest as well as Morrowind (which is a huge feat since I spent 100's of hours on it).

Looks so silly^^ Almost like Shaco from League XD

Yea oblivion was good for its time... but they had like 4 different voice actors... now the repeated voices are not as huge of an issue, although still present. :)

I finally just picked up the Legendary Edition on Steam for $20 as part of the Autumn Sale. Managed to hold out this long, but $20 was the sweet spot. :) I won't be able to actually start playing until I get my computer back out of storage and set up, but I'm excited.

Any tips for an Elder Scrolls newb?

You made a great choice by purchasing this game. My only tip for you is that the dungeons are pretty linear so that you don't get lost, and don't buy the clairvoyance spell because it doesn't work most of the time.

If you enjoy this game, I'd suggest you look into Oblivion as well. Both are excellent games.

Just play the game however you feel like! The map is massive so there is plenty of things to do! I personally think playing as a stealthy archer is the most rewarding experience, once you get the feel of the bow and pull of some pretty wicked shots from a distance... it still puts a smile on my face!

That's pretty much how I played Fallout 3 (until you start swimming in power armour and plasma weaponry—then I converted to a complete tank), so it'll probably be a very natural way for me to play this.

Are there any PC snobs who want to recommend any essential mods, while we're at it?

I do have a copy of Oblivion as well but I never really had time to get into it, and now that Skyrim is so established it seemed like it would be a shame to dive into Elder Scrolls anywhere other than Skyrim. I'm sure I'll get to it eventually! (I hope!)

There are plenty of mods which are "essential", but the best mods are listed here mostly:

Recommended:
*Sky-UI
*Unofficial Skyrim Patch
*A Quality World Map
*Race Menu
*Skyrim Script Extender

Yup; I agree with the above, also get a mod which makes the armour and weapons look better, I prefer the realistic look. But you could go crazy and mod in lightsabers and other funny stuff like that!
