Football Manager Series

New postby REMIX on Sat Oct 20, 2007 11:06 pm

So I went inside Game yesterday and there was a big massive queue. And all I saw was a bunch of orange cases saying Football Manager held by every passing individual in the queue. I didn't know so many people would still get the game today. I myself didn't get it, I was job hunting xD. Gave up because of the queue though.

Woah absolutely awesome game. I love it. Using Brighton as usual (dunno why), and the depth of the game is fantastic. Only played like 2 matches excluding friendlies though. Hope to get more game experience.

I used to play the old Championship Manager 01/02 (It was based on CM3). I'll never beat my own record playing on Hajduk Split. Won two Champions League in 10 years with such a minor european team.

Anyway, they changed the name to "Football Manager" sometime later.

I didn't like the series after that one. The game nowadays is too heavy, if I put too many leagues, everything gets too slow (and my PC is pretty good). The last one I played was Football Manager 2005. I played as San Lorenzo (Argentina) for 4 seasons, but then I got tired. meh.

A beta patch is out. Get it!

It finally clarifies the 'closing down' slider!

Is it just the coca cola league 1 referees or do all referees in the game not know the meaning of playing advantage?

"Jake Robinson is through in on goal, he can't surely miss! Foul! Jake Robinson was tugged on the shirt 15 mins ago"

Thats probably the most annoying feature of all, you are clean through on goal, and the referee doesn't play advantage from a previous foul.

Was there a goal at the end of it?

No not really, be good if there was but I suck :P .

But the card thing is almost as bad as last year's game. It's like everything results in a yellow. Heck I recall the commentator saying, "Excellent tackle!" and the next thing I know the player got a yellow card for it. Ouh and that's another thing, the commentator always has to shout everything, it always ends in an exclamation mark!

edit: ouh yea, two red cards in one incident. My player chasing the ball accidentally elbowed a player. He got sent off for that, and a player of mine thought it was harsh.. I wonder what he thought of getting sent off himself. Grr, although it was a second yellow, the referee didn't even warn him or anything, he just politely said, "off you go Mr. I think that red was harsh".

Don't you just hate it when you have a great defence but no scorer in the team but when you get one, hatrick on début having come on as half time sub, your defence lets in four?

Struggling a little at Norwich Victoria of Blue Square Premier, mostly on getting wages down and players not to happy at my angry reaction to losing 1-0 to a team down to nine men, but think I can turn it around. Love that it remembers when you move players about rather then just think your playing 4-4-2 as it used to do

Ahahaha. Playing this on a quadcore is brilliant. I'm storming through processing the fixtures.

Anyway, fascinating stuff. I'm in season 4 now.

I'm Chelsea, as always. Financial resources are, as always limited initially.

I brought in Aguero, brilliant. Alongwith Marcelo.

Fat Frank of Barca got sacked in season 1 after finishing Barca 12th. (Amazing, no?) Because of poor league position I managed to get Dos Santos after offering a stupidly high contract.

Their new manager, Koeman? Not a popular figure. Eto'o started to hate his guts. Wanted to leave asap. Obviously I didn't have enough money for transfer so I had to wait end of 2nd season to get a free contract signing. Eto'o of course has an unfriendly personality, he's a bit of a twat so I let him go when Barca got a new manager. Not only that, Ronaldinho filed in a transfer request because he wasn't getting much first-team football! Got him midway of third season.
Then there is Bojan, he loves Barca. Refused to even consider a career in England. Sadly he and Barca could never negotiate a contract together. So he was on a rolling contract for a few months until he got fed up and left. I snapped him up free.

Since I'm in season 4, the exciting things can truly begin. Scouting out for new talent. The players that aren't based on real life knowledge (which does feel a bit of a cheat sometimes)

I've brought in lots of promising talent but the potential scouting does seem better. You can't instantly tell if a 15 yr old will become a superstar. But that's where the fun comes in, can you groom the next 'Ronaldo'? It's why I'm scouring the Brazil pool. I want to find a Brazillian striker that will be the next Ronaldo!

Speaking of Brazil, I took over for them as national coach for 2011 Copa America. We were playing beautiful football. Sadly the qtr finals got ugly.

Ilsinho got red carded when we were winning 1-0. Ok, just have to control the ball more defensively, not give it away. What? Kaka gets a red? Brazil are great but even now with 9 men, we were gonna suffer. Lost 3-1 in extra time. Got sacked. Guess it's ok, the expectation for Brazil as hosts in 2014WC must be crazy.

Oh and Liverpool's Lucas? He's great. Threw conditional fee of £61m to get him.

Get the DM to 'hold up ball", gives time for the two CM infront to get in good positions. A great platform to start your build up play.

My formation is as always, 4-1-2-2(wide)-1

I love the seasonal and overall 'best elevent'. Especially since I play my games well into the 2030s. Be nice to get a look back at the history of my teams and see who were the best of all time for me.

Is there anything finer then turning a 3-0 defeat at half time into a draw? 8th with my current Blue Square Prem team but we really are struggling for cash so hoping for a takeover.
