Oops... sorry. What I meant was Mario Party 5. I don't think it's fair to give Mario Party 5 a score of 1. I think it's at least 7. And about Paper Mario, it's 7, I think. Rather bland, but I agree.

Never. I never listen to the magazine. I trust my own judgment. Except for that time when I rented Evolution Worlds for GCN...thank goodness I rented it.

But there are some games where I think are horrible, but gaming magazines give it splendid reviews...weird.

Yeah I agree, Moogle. I suspect that there's some kowtowing behind the scene. I rarely trust the review until I get my grubby hand playing the game or the demo.

But some game reviews give you an insite to what is expected of the game. Say the PC game Settlers 5 or something. The demo was alright read the review and it said that game is real slow paced and the storyline is all over the place. So it gave me second thoughts. But then again, always read more than one review.

Agreed. Same goes with PC hardware review. I never trust one review. But then again, why should we bother to buy the magazine? Well, I got the subscription free anyway...

I think it's a bit risky to just buy a game based on its concept. I prefer to read a review before making my decision. Of course, demos are best, but you can't always get your hands on one.

Anyone remember the games Wrath Unleashed or Alter Echo for PS2? Those games had sound concepts and ideas behind them, but very poor execution. I would have bought at least Wrath Unleashed if not for the review it got in OPM. I'm glad for game reviews; they're generally very useful as long as they come from a magazine or well-known website.

Hmm... agreed Sum Gai. I was lucky to obtain the demo disk of Alter Echo and it sucked big time. The review said differently, though. Especially GI, whose reviews are often questionable.

I never trust em. I base everything on my own opinions. I find that game reviews aren't too trust worthy. I never liked Halo but they said it was great.

Steering the conversation in a new direction, which game magazines does everyone trust/like?

You must know that you're in a very small minority on that Halo thing.
