I agree! The least forgiving club in the country is not the place to go and learn the ropes. The only factor I can see in his favour is that he knows the young players who he might have be relying on with the transfer ban...

Do you think we're gonna make any signings Dong? Anyone we've been connected with that you'd particularly like?

I would assume so (though after the Cech years) but may be held up till Edu arrives (our backroom chaos has been deeply concerning), I tend to ignore rumours till they are near dead certs as so many many come out.

I'm rather happy with Arsenal's transfer dealings, ok loss of Ramsey was huge blow but we know that was coming and sorry to see our captain leave but wish him well, felt we added in most of the area's we needed to. I would have liked one more centreback and wonder if losing Iwobi will leave us short but hopefully most of the additions we have made will work out and we can get back into top 4.

I agree! Pepe and Tierny are great signings that will help us both now and into the future. Luiz would not have been high in my wish list as he doesn’t exactly scream disciplined defender. However I’m hoping that with experience he has matured and will be better than I’m expecting. I probably would have preferred to keep Kos but you can’t have everything. After yesterday though the signing I’m most excited about is Cellabos! He was incredible yesterday - just a shame we’ve only got him on loan. I really do think we could get back in the top 4 this season. Emery seems like a transfer wizard!

Mouuuuuuu.

Good start under new management. As much as I love Poch and all that he's done for the club, it's was clear that our limit was reached with him. Despite of all his relative trophy-less success, he still has a lot to learn but it wasn't something that was going to happen in our squad.

Mourinho's arrival is hopefully going to shake things up. Our morale was low and players were playing like utter garbage. Beating West Ham was what, our 2nd away win this calendar year? Insane. But Mou is a serial winner which is helpful to our team's mentality, and in addition, he is a manager with whom a lot of players have said they would die for. Someone like that will steel our team's resolve and I wouldn't be surprised if we were back fighting for CL spots in the next few months.

Just hope he plays GLC though. I want to see more of him.

I'm not sure it is a good fit, I know Jose needs this to work and show that he isn't the imploding grumpy figure of diminishing powers but Jose's style and way of working seems utterly in contrast to Spurs and Levy particularly. I think it will work for rest of season but when the transfer talks begin for example?

Sorry for Poch but as well as learning, he may simply have reached that stage in modern football were the players need someone new and where the manager himself is just drained by the intensity of football. I imagine, after hopefully taking some time off to recharge, he will get a very good job (maybe just a little north of Spurs? )

I agree with Dong's analysis myself. You might win a cup this year, but long term it will be bad news. I think Poch would have been fine if he'd been allowed to do the squad overhaul he wanted in the summer. Regardless, he will walk into almost any job that he wants, and if that happened to be to the red side of London, I'd jump around in joy.

Emery gone. He is a good manager, his record elsewhere shows that but seemed to struggle with the language and I suspect Emery lost his own confidence at the end of last season, sorry it didn't work out with him and hope he does well elsewhere but he had to go wit way things were spiralling. Not utterly convinced the board will choose wisely

I liked Emery, and after a promising summer with some potentially great transfers (except for walking disaster Luiz) we seemed well placed to push on. However he lost control and I think he needed to go, as much to protect his own reputation as anything else. While part of me would love to appoint an Arsenal legend (Ljungberg, Vieira or Arteta), I'd rather go with a proven manager to settle things down. Poch would be my first choice, closely followed by any of Rodgers, Ancelotti, or Benitez. Recognising of course that those last two would probably be short term fixers, allowing us to take something of a risk afterwards.

Whose on your Christmas wish list Dong?

I would love Poch but he may need a break till summer and not sure our finances can take non-CL football next season, would be happy with Rodgers (who I suspect is now aware how badly this will go down) for domstically (we will do badly in Europe under him though and maybe sack him season 3) or Benetiz who I do rate as manager.
