I have noticed something in the save file. The part that codes what guile cards you can use seems to change a little bit during the curse of the game. Lu Lingqi for example starts out with 88 here (Yell + Frenzy available), but in my current save, it has changed to 89. In a fresh save, it's still 88.
I have no idea why it changed, what effect it has (didn't have a debate with Lu Lingqi).
As in the scenario.s11 file, the part which codes on which terrain buildings can be built, uses a similar summation pattern and you don't have to exactly match the correct byte to have the availability to build on certain terrains, it could be same here. So you don't necessarily have to insert 88 to get Yell and Frenzy, but 89 could work as well. Need confirmation on that though.

Interesting. It probably serves as some sort of "experience" byte. I suppose if an officer's INT goes up there has to be some way to raise the guile cards available?

I was just thinking the same thing about the guile byte. but I'd guess it would take a while for a new card to be available.
so Lord Cao Cao, do you know know if editing sword units is possible ? I found 2 bytes in the senarios.s11 file, which converted t decimal gives 300 , I'd guess it is the basic damage ?

No, ATK and DEF are 60 for Swords, MOV is 20. Look for those stats.

60 ? that almost looks decent how is it calculated ? I also saw that spears have 95 righ ?

This is a great help, thank you kiko for asking in that thread, I didn't even know it existed. :lol:

Now with those options being translated, we can do final testing. We could make Liu Biao's district use the "Defensive-Emergent Defense" option (05 ff 05 ff) and see if he does better in defending his province or so. It might open up a few new possibilities to set up forces.
I don't have to go to university on Thursdays, so I could make some attempts.

Yeah check it out if you don't mind. I won't have much free time the next two weeks to break out the hex editor.

If it doesn't work then Liu Biao is a lost cause. :lol:
