Try this:

If I remember Lousang had 1 extra warp for some reason. Search the ROM for the outside warp address for Lousang and you should find them: 09070713

If you move the warp location via DOAEditor that will take care of your position when you exit Luosang on subsequent times you enter. That is because when you leave a town, the game doesnt have a pre-programmed location where it is instructed to put you. It just assumes "I'll put the player at whatever location they were at, when they entered the town.".

However there are other circumstances where that kind of assumption doesn't work. Namely where the game should put you the first time you leave Luosang (you didn't technically "enter" it - so the game can't assume any location). To change that, you have to use a hex editor.

The locations are:

0x035564
0x036001

They are not hard to find actually, you just need to search for the location of the original Luosang exit and you'll find them. As soon as you exit Luosang normally, you are in a location that is programmed into the ROM. Look up that location in the NES memory at $0060. You'll find it says 09070713. So search for that value in the ROM. You'll find its also found at the two locations I mention above. Change those to the location of your new Luosang, and you're all set. Use the same method of looking in the NES memory if you're not sure where the location of your new Luosang is.

An old bug is finally resolved. One where enemies randomly attack themselves.

Problem was that they would choose to use a heal tactic then due to a bad value in memory was ignoring the tactic and attacking. Unfortunately for them the target was still set for the heal so they end up hitting their own guys. Fix:

Wow, its about time!... and whats this? Unlimited officer leave events AND a new IPS patch! You guys really have got it good now. When I was your age we had to hex-edit line by line up hill both ways in the snow barefoot, blah blah.

Keep the powder flowing everyone. Did Boneduke ever finish his mod?

Was hoping to get it released in October but didnt quite make it. I'd say within the next 2 weeks for sure. Just a couple finishing touches left!

Following an unexpected couple months delay due to a particularly devasting bug, a new Destiny of an Emperor mod is now available, Destiny of an Emperor: King Wu of Wei!

Image

You can download the mod from my website: http://boneduke.com/destiny-of-an-emperor.html

Destiny of an Emperor: King Wu of Wei represents nearly two years of development effort and I’m sure is yet not without bugs. There is a few known issues listed below, but if you encounter something suspect, please let me know and will do my best to resolve. I’ve done several playthroughs on the most recent build, as well as had a ton of the support from MiDKnight both in terms of testing and bug fixes – but its an ambitious ROM to say the least – so no promises you won’t run into something unintended. That said – on this first 1.0 release, definitely keep some save states at various points!

Hopefully in the next few days I’ll get some more gameplay related info on my website – like descriptions of tactics, Officer profiles, items etc. But I won’t post any kind of walkthrough info – you’re on your own! In particular there are a couple of arguably difficult chapters to pass through, both in terms of battles as well as “puzzles” – I’ve put in some clues here and there but you may wind up genuinely stumped about how to move forward (and running desperately low on provisions to boot!). Feel free to send me a PM here if you need a hint.

Known issues:

  • The displayed total for tactic points seems to go haywire within the first few battles/level ups. This seems to be a cosmetic issue only. But expect to see the game tell you that your TP total is over 800,000 at some point. In reality it will be the usual amount.
  • In some recent playthroughs I encountered enemies casting a strange version of the Singe tactic that was displayed as something like “Singe0000000000000000” – in most cases this was at a time when the enemy probably should have used something much more damaging. So consider it a bonus.
  • Although we’ve rooted out some of the causes, enemies will still occasionally attack themselves/their colleagues. I’ve seen one instance where a very high AP general cast Bei Ji on himself and then proceeded to one-shot his own army – but hopefully it isn’t gamebreaking in most playthroughs.

And perhaps most importantly - please do share your feedback and let me know how you found it! Really curious to get some comments :D

Wow! Love that you've put together a nice accompanying website. :)

Sure thing! I'm collecting some assorted feedback.

But quick question... **Spoilers**

How is the encounter outside the second castle meant to be handled? Is that an area where a disguise or disguises are meant to be employed? Or is the encounter meant to be defeated?

Do you mean the seemingly impossible battle south of that castle? If so that is the way to a later chapter and isn't meant to be done yet. You'll come back there later (although at a time when the battle is still seemingly impossible :D )
