Title: History of the April Fool’s Day Jokes

Short Title: Records of April 1st

Original Author: Qu Hui

Keywords: history, sosz, forum, scholars, april fool's, jokes

Description: A sepeate volume of the History of the Scholars of Shen Zhou detailing the traditional April Fool's Day Joke, year by year.

2003: James creates a fake webpage intended to be the April Fool’s Day Joke called “Kong Ming New Archived,” credited to Timmy, whose father bought KMA from James. However, the prank is not well received, and within five hours Timmy receives eight death-threats and James receives countless frantic e-mails from visitors. The prank is promptly taken down and archived.

2004: James creates a front page for Pikachu’s Archives as the April Fool’s Day Joke. The response is much better than the previous year. The popularity of the prank spawns the Pikachu smiley now used on the forum.

2005: James fully converts the front page of Kongming’s Archives into Zhongmou’s Archives, a site with a more Wu focus, as the April Fool’s Day Joke. Kong Wen “resigns” as an administrator of the board due to the change. Fear is instilled into the hearts of every non-Wu-ist, while the Wu-ists rejoice.

2006: A group of texts that present an alternate historical view of certain personages from the Three Kingdoms era are “discovered.” One of these texts, a biography of Xiahou Mao, is posted on KMA with promises of more to come. As a result, Xiahou Mao experiences a brief surge in popularity.

2007: A.K.A. The Great Rebellion. The Honorable Lady Wu and Kong Wen ban James in honor of the spirit of the Ides of March, and then take over the forum. They are met by Sun Gongli, Ezekiel, Baiko Arashi (who goes down in history as annoying his way into the previous drafts) and others who oppose this, and the forum breaks down into a very ‘civil’ civil war. At the climax of the Joke, James feigns that he is abandoning KMA as well, and Kong Wen announces his intention to take it over. The next day, James returns and does the big reveal. For a dramatized account of the events, see “A Record of the Rebellion Against James the Benevolent.”

2008: James creates a quiz page where everyone who visits has one chance to win Golden Apples. However, upon moving to the next page, they discover that Yuan Shu has taken their Golden Apples. Everybody but Yuan Shu is unsatisfied by this outcome and Yuan Shu gets a tummy ache from eating all of those Apples.

2009: Keeping with the interest generated by his Destiny of an Emperor mods, James “announces” his most ambitious Destiny of an Emperor mod yet, Destiny of a Pikachu. There is great merriment, along with some genuine interest.

No, this is part of a series of articles detailing the history of the forum and thus shall remain here. It will be displayed on KMA if and when James fixes the coding for that.
