Although it's going to be a while before the workshop is up a number of mods have already been released. Here's a thread compiling them.

This is definitely the best Total War game I’ve played, some of the stories you see playing out are incredible. Last night in my Gongsun Zan game I had old man Tian Kai led a ragtag army against a much larger Shu-Han army. Zhang Fei was captured (and summarily executed). What made it even more emotional was that Tian Kai died in battle under a hail of arrows.

Thanks for the helpful advice Gray Rider, I passed it along to a total war playing friend who found it useful.

Love the laugh, decent trailer but those blood spurts never appeal to me

Yes might pick it up as it’s on a couple of pounds, but doesn’t necessarily add anything to me.

Playing as Dong Zhuo while trying some mods. It's been interesting.

Things are going really well; Lu Bu leads an army and takes parts of Nanyang and Luoyang while handing Cao Cao and Yuan Shu some defeats. Han Sui betrays us and declares war, and Gong Du sends a stack into Anding. The main annoyance is that I suddenly started to get way less money from the Han all at once and their trade got cut off--I think the trade cutoff was caused by Zheng Jiang taking the port they owned near Hedong (the Han faction capital) from them, and I suspect that also caused the tribute from them to drop.

Then Dong Zhuo gets assassinated and everything explodes.

Intimidation zeroes out so rebellions start occurring. Li Jue and Guo Si have their civil war event...and were part of the army sent against Gong Du, forcing me to swap them out for Xu Huang and Fan Chou and withdraw until the troops muster (in retrospect, since Guo Si ended up with 0 loyalty but didn't leave immediately I should have tried to crush Gong Du's army then swapped them out. Lu Jue didn't get the -250 loyalty effect despite being part of the event but I still don't trust him). With the rest of the coalition snapping I decide to make peace with Yuan Shu and sell him the territories I took back so Lu Bu can force march back to help out in Chang An.

Oh, and a +Food assignment ran out and I now have food problems for a few turns. Luckily I can get out of it by increasing taxes while having public order problems.

Dong Zhuo's huge trustworthiness penalty means I can't sell food for money because of the large "untrustworthy" penalty. Still the situation looks salvageable. I think Xu Huang can break Gong Du's army this turn, Lu Bu got back to Chang An and can finish him, then I can kill Han Sui and take his silk trader, and maybe kill Ma Teng for doing such a terrible job at dealing with Gong Du.

Edit: It took a bit longer than expected (turn out it was right out of range) but Xu Huang smashed Gong Du's invasion stack. He can finish it off and destroy a second smaller stack. Xu Huang hits very hard for a sentinel! It's a shame without mods he mostly sits with the Han empire all game. Fan Chou did great too but that's to be expected for Vanguards.

Edit 2: Locusts event hit, so I have to import food from the Han empire, who gave me an okay deal on it. Trustworthiness slowly going back up but it's going slowly.
Lu Bu ambushed and destroyed Zheng Jiang when she tried to cross over the yellow river into Changan, then I forced her to pay for a peace treaty. I used Coerce to force Ma Teng to have Ma Chao marry into my faction and pay me for the privilege.
Made Ma Chao my heir for his amazing cavalry buffs. I noticed in an odd coincidence he has the exact same skills I'd given Fan Chou, but he's of course a much stronger officer, so I'll probably swap him into that army later.
So I probably won't destroy Ma Teng after all unless he causes problems.
Han Sui's getting turned into meat buns, though.

RIP Yan Liang. Killed in an ambush by the hated Liu Bei.

I’ve responded by capturing his Imperial capital, the swine!

Playing a Yuan shao game at the same time as Dong Zhuo Lu Bu. The dilemma war with Gongsun Zan ended like this:
https://steamuserimages-a.akamaihd.net/ ... 582C44700/
This does remind me how in Rome or Med II the AI would be demanding me give them all their money and turn-by-turn tribute instead.

I could have finished him off, but I think Youbeiping is a bit exposed so I'd rather build up my infrastructure and take out the bandits first. Besides, this is far more humiliating for him.

According to the post-battle record of my main battle with him (where he stormed Ping Yuan with my main army sitting in it and got wrecked) Zhao Yun somehow lost a duel to Tian Feng. That would have been a sight.

I'm hoping I can get a coalition with the pure and heroic Liu Yu at some point and keep him alive all game, maybe confederate him much later on. I also want to get Gao Gan for historical reasons but it might be tricky.
Edit: Gao Gan got destroyed by Zhang Yan and teleported across China to join Shi Hui. I can't help but think geography should factor into where officers go.
Edit2: Yuan Shao died of old age in 194. I feel incredibly shortchanged. :rangry:
Checking the file it seems officers die younger in Records, which explains the Oath Brothers checking out early in my last campaign.
