So, is this the Taikou Risshiden I've heard so much about?

Woah, is this an expansion?

I just hope it doesn't sacrifice a lot of game elements in normal NA14 to have officer play, but rather adds stuff. Although it wouldn't surprise me if they suddenly removed road upgrade features and other cool things!

It's a whole new game... so another £50 -_-

Also, it doesn't look that great either. You can't be a free officer, you just start in a force. ergh

That is sort of understandable, as in I can reason it that this is Japan and dealing with samurai who would have property. The garden politics reminds me of the old sword of the samurai game

Much more fun than Sphere of Influence: IMHO. Two steps above.

You may start as a Daimyo, or down every level to a Retainer. Also, All castles can be built up to be huge castles if you have the time and the resources, no more big castles and useless fortresses. When you become an Army Corps leader you can more or less decide to declare independence when you want, and Castle Lords can be made to switch allegiance by plot so from time to time we see a castle Lord change to another daimyo.

The game is much less predictable now, even with Events. Currently playing a Shimazu retainer, from 1534 we are now in 1552 and we have not yet conquered all the Otomo. Both the Mastudaira and the Oda have been swallowed... by the Asakura. The Hatakeyama, the Suzuki, and the Satake all thrive, while the Hojo are still held in Musashi.

Plus, there is now an Event editor so we may create our own events.

An event editor sounds fantastic. I always wondered why they never introduced something like that before.

The game has launched on Steam, and is available to try out for free for the next couple of days.

This is going to sound odd, but is there any way to import my historical officer edit data from Sphere of Influence? That took a long, long time to do and I really do not feel like doing it again.
