Yea Liang Gang is a classic. Keep him and just buff his stats.

Okay. Qiao Rui failed his job interview.

I’m going to start creating Yuan Shu’s territory now. Anybody have any advanced considerations for the territory of Dong Zhuo/Ji Jue/Guo Si?

Does anyone have any overall games suggestions or thoughts?

Hua Xin would be better placed in Wei or even Dong Zhuo. Qiao Rui was actually more famous and more noteworthy than Liang Gang.

Yeah. I understand where people are coming from, though. He’s a classic face for DoaE addicts. A classic follower of Yuan Shu.

As for Hua Xin, how exactly does he tie in with Yuan Shu? He’s very handy to have there—it gives Yuan Shu a temporary talented officer to make a battle much harder. Dong Zhuo’s region will be okay, I suppose… and Wei has no shortage of these people...

Always open to other ideas! :)

Most concerned with making a fun game!

If you're looking for talented advisers for Yuan Shu, Yan Xiang or Liu Ye fit the bill. You could even mold Yang Hong into that role pretty easily. Hua Xin actually has no service to Yuan Shu on record - he served Dong Zhuo, then Liu You, then Sun Ce, and then Wei.

If you have Yuan Yao in, better to either leave him out to make room for Qiao Rui. Yuan Yao has no military service whatsoever and actually lived a fairly short life (I think Sun Ce outlived him).

Yuan Shu’s territory is now 'complete'!
At least until some other change comes along.

Hua Xin, though he could have been better placed in another area, added a lot to Yuan Shu’s region. He’s also by far one of the nastiest officers you’ll encounter this early in the game. His battle will be tough.

Some Familiar Faces

Two changed men, two new officers!

Ji Ling has received some love!
Image
Is this more in line with the Ji Ling people envisioned?

Hua Xin
Image
Maybe he’s just bitter about having been stuck with Yuan Shu longer than he would have otherwise had to serve? In any case, armed with Yan Re, Yin Xian, and Ji Rou, he is a killing machine this early in the game. He appears in a castle alone with another officer, but he’s going to make that battle quite challenging. Fortunately he does not appear with other truly nasty people.

Han Hao
Image
Another officer who never got to leave the service of Yuan Shu. He adds more skillz to Yuan Shu’s army!

Li Feng
Image
He received a complete makeover. Not only does he get a new sprite, his stats are beefed up and he gets a portrait. SimRTK gives him a good strength attribute, and Koei gives him a good intelligence... so I figured why not combine the two and make him l33t'er?

Yuan Shu, hangin’ out with some good ol’ chums!
Image
Cheng Yu is my test monkey for officers!

Yuan Shu!
Image
Yuan Shu is much cooler than he ever was before. I suppose we need little justification for this—he is, of course, Yuan Shu! See his portrait! How can you look like that and not be mean? All I’ve done is turned him into the warrior he always was in his head. That, and the Yuan Shu following was very disappointed to find out that I was not originally going to give him a stat over 200. With an attack power of 100, over one-thousand troops, and a strength of 212, he is going to be quite dangerous. The first step in that battle, I imagine, will be to get him under 1000 troops.

I just can't wait to play this game. Two more areas left!

I was wondering, about Dong Zhuo's area. How does it look like in the code for the second Luo Yang Gate? The battle where it's Xu Rong, and sometimes Guo Ji (Guo Si)? That battle is strange because it's the only one where a character sometimes shows up or sometimes doesn't, so I didn't know if Guo Ji was edit-able.

I thought he was a subordinate of Yuan Shu before serving Liu Yao?

Yan Xiang’s name is too long, but Liu Ye… you might have just given me a proper candidate! He was an intelligent bugger, so I can justify him being mean, and he was a jerk to Emperor Xian! Thanks! I’m adding that to my final revision notes. I might move Hua Xin somewhere else.

Tell me about his service before Liu Yao?

After that, I’m skimming over the game looking for last-minute changes and such. I’m going to add some odd ducks like Zuo Ci too. Put those random non-appearing officers to some good use. Then comes the first public versions for everyone to play! I’ll be doing final touch-ups as people go through the game and give feedback.

Guo Ji is there… and his values look normal enough. Whatever is causing him to vanish must be somewhere else in the code. But I don’t see how this can happen randomly! There must be a condition somewhere. There’s something we do from time to time to make him appear, and something we don’t do when he’s not there. I wonder if maybe it has something to do with your level? I never see him—not anymore—and I don’t save up levels at all so early in the game. Maybe that’s the cause?

I’m pretty curious to find out.

Bedtime! I figured I would share this now beforehand as I’ll have some time to receive feedback before I start planning Dong Zhuo’s region. Below is the regular distribution of officers in Dong Zhuo’s territory along with some other stray officers I remembered or plucked out of the encyclopedia.

Are there any skilled officers who should be in Dong Zhuo’s territory?

Are there any requests or thoughts that should be taken into consideration?

Please let me know!
