Destiny of an Emperor 2.0 (Version 1.1 Released!)

Discussion of other Three Kingdoms games (e.g. Destiny of an Emperor and Dynasty Tactics) and other games by Koei (e.g. Samurai Warriors).

I can’t picture Cao Cao and Sun Ce as party members. :)
Maybe in a Wu or Wei mod!

Kong Wen, did you want Pang Tong or... Wang?

It looks like I’m going to be able to post the beta ROMs pretty soon. There won’t initially be two versions of the main game. I’m using Cheng Yuanzhi right now though his name appears properly in battle (the space shouldn’t be a big deal). Maybe everyone will be happy enough with that. Haha.

So we’ll have a Wang version, a Pang Tong version, and any custom versions I happen to make. The final details can be ironed out as people play through the game and make suggestions. It will be interesting to see what areas might be a little easy and what areas kick perhaps a little too much ass.

I'll take Pang Tong for my version. I intend to play the Wang version as well, so that'll sate my Wanglust. Any way I could get Pei Yuanshao in my version as well...? :pika:

Sure, I’ll hook up the Pei Yuanshao.
He even gets level-ups.

It is good that you want to play twice. Means there’ll be someone to play through another round after I release the final tweaked version. I plan to play through twice, too. :)

Yeah, I’m experimenting with the really really strange level-up system. I laughed when I saw just how many soldiers Huo Hu could potentially have on a level-up. You’d be pretty much invincible aside from An Sha at that point…

Play only for fun if you like, but I would love to receive feedback on the game as you go along. Discussion and screenshots are also always welcome! The more we talk about it, and the more feedback we give, the better the final release will be!

Was a battle too difficult?
Was an area too difficult?

Do you have any suggestions?
Is there an officer who should be added?
Is there an officer who did not belong?
Should an officer’s stats be changed?
Did a name display incorrectly?

All feedback is welcome! Please enjoy!

Haha… I already messed up at the start.

Need to make some last moment edits...

Please re-download if you have already downloaded.

I didn’t allow enough of a progression curve at the beginning.
Zhang Liang was kicking far too much ass.

I’m generally going to avoid edits like this, especially with three versions. If another battle is far too difficult please share notes and use your emulator’s saved-state feature to work around it. :)

Also, folks, buy that armor! Those elixirs; the resurrects!
You’ll be using them in this version of the game.

And it may be far too hard to progress without level-ups at some points.

Edit: ----------------------

I’m wondering if level-ups for the likes of Chen Deng and Mi Zhu should be for the Huo Hu edition… it sure would be nice to have their extra strength at the beginning here! But I also suppose a few levels and some Robes would work wonders, too.

Even weaker than his brothers, he still hits hard thanks to his strength…

If I fight him right now, I’ll get my ass handed to me…
